Defleksi dan kekuatan fleksural basis gigitiruan merupakan suatu parameter sifat fisik dan mekanis suatu basis gigitiruan yang berperan terhadap ketahanan dan kenyamanan basis gigitiruan ketika dipakai dan menerima beban didalam mulut. Merendam basis gigitiruan nilon termoplastik pada larutan desinfektan ekstrak kelopak bunga rosella sangat efektif untuk membersihkan basis gigitiruan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah  mengetahui pengaruh ekstrak kelopak bunga rosella 40% terhadap defleksi dan kekuatan fleksural basis gigitiruan nilon termoplastik. 16 sampel nilon termoplastik dibagi menjadi 4 kelompok, yaitu 1 kelompok kontrol dan 3 kelompok perlakuan. Tiap kelompok perlakuan direndam selama 15 menit dengan intensitas waktu perendaman 7 hari, 14 hari, dan 21 hari. Kelompok kontrol direndam dengan akuades. Sampel kemudian diuji dengan metode three point bending. Data hasil perhitungan menunjukkan defleksi semakin menurun pada kelompok dengan intensitas waktu perendaman lebih sering, dan kekuatan fleksural semakin meningkat pada kelompok dengan intensitas waktu perendaman yang lebih sering. Hasil uji statistik one way ANOVA membuktikan adanya perbedaan yang bermakna (p<0,05) antara kelompok perlakuan dan kelompok kontrol. Uji beda LSD menunjukkan bahwa semua kelompok terdapat perbedaan bermakna (p<0,05). Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah ekstrak kelopak bunga rosella 40% berpengaruh terhadap defleksi dan kekuatan fleksural basis gigitiruan nilon termoplastik.

Deflection and flexural strength of denture base is a parameter of physical and mechanical of a denture base that contributes to the resistance and comfort when worn and receive load in the mouth. Soaking denture base thermoplastic nylon in a disinfectant solution such as rosella petals extract is very effective for cleaning denture base. The pupose of this study was to know the effect of 40% rosella petals extract to the deflection and flexural strength of denture base thermoplastic nylon. 16 samples of thermoplastic nylon were divided into 4 groups. 1 group was a control, 3 groups were a treatment. The treatment groups was soaked for 15 minutes with the intensity of soaking time were 7 days, 14 days, and 21 days. The control group was soaked with aquadest. All of the samples were tested with a three-point bending method. Descriptively the test of deflection and flexural strength shows, deflection decreased in the group with the intensity of soaking time more often, and flexural strength increased in the group with the intensity of soaking time more often.. The results of one way ANOVA statistical test proving the existence of significant diferences (p<0,05) between treatments with control group. In different test LSD showed that all group were significant (p<0,05). The conclusion of this study is the 40% rosella petals extract influence to the deflection and flexural strength of denture base thermoplastic nylon.
