ECONOMIC GROWTH AND TENDENCY OF INTER AREA INEQUALITY IN BANYUMAS REGENCY YEAR 2002-2011

The study entitled “Economic Growth And Tendency Of Inter Area Inequality In Banyumas Regency Year 2002-2011”. purposes of the research are to find out economic growth trend, to find out the income distribution imbalance tendency level, to find out the the occurence of inter area convergence/divergence process in Banyumas Regency, and to find out the correlation between economic growth and inter area income distribution imbalance in Banyumas Regency. Analysis methods that are used in the research are least square trend linier analysis, Williamson index, absolute convergence regression, and Pearson correlation. The results of this research are the economic growth in Banyumas Regency shows an increasing direction, inequality that occured in Banyumas regency implied in a heavy inequality criteria with an increasing direction, There is no convergence process on inter area income distribution inequality, and there is a positif relationship between economic growth and inequality in Banyumas Regency with correlation value low of GRDP Per Capita. The Implications of the research are the Regional Government of Banyumas Regency is expected to be more able to increase economic growth through regional government policies, no that it can approach its left behind in development with the other areas through optimalization of potential sectors in the area. Government’s role in making policies that support private sectors under developed areas is urgently needed because convergence speed rate generated is very slow, no that to go to equality direction still need a long time. Besides, there should be further research to find other factors that influence in convergence rate by conditional convergence calculation. then regional government needs to make policies that can support economic growth and increase equality or decrease inequality can be done by applying Growth Poles concept spreadly in the government development plan. This can be done by assigning new growth centre area, which is expected to be able to support economic growth and development equality.
