GEOLOGI DAN STUDI KARAKTERISTIK BAUKSIT LATERIT DI KECAMATAN KETUNGAU TENGAH KABUPATEN SINTANG KALIMANTAN BARAT

SARI Daerah penelitian terletak dalam koordinat 0038’39.48” - 0053’11.76” LU dan di antara 111022’37.56” - 111038’48.84” BT. Wilayah tersebut secara administrasi masuk ke dalam wilayah Kecamatan Ketungau Tengah, Kabupaten Sintang, Kalimantan Barat. Penelitian pada daerah penelitian dilakukan melalui pengamatan langsung dilapangan (pembuatan sumur uji) dan pengamatan laboratorium (analisis petrografi, analisis kimia basah, dan analisis X-Ray Fluorescence Spectrometry). Keberadaan bauksit secara dominan berada pada Formasi Ketungau. Bauksit daerah penelitian termasuk tipe bauksit laterit dengan batuan asalnya dari pelapukan batuan beku (allochthonus), berdasarkan hasil perhitungan indeks Ki dari analisis XRF dan kimia basah, jenis bauksit pada daerah penelitian adalah bauxitic clay, dan bertekstur konkresi. Bauksit pada daerah penelitian memiliki kandungan besi berkisar antara 5.86 – 47.56%, alumina antara 14.98 – 40.84%, dan silika antara 18.83 – 70.44% dengan tingkatan kualitas berdasarkan kandungan alumina yaitu Low grade dengan kadar 11-20%, Medium grade dengan kadar 21-30%, dan High grade dengan kadar 31-40%.

ABSTRACT Research area lies between longitudes 111022’37.56” E and 111038’48.84” E and between latitude 0038’39.48” N and 0053’11.76” N. Administratively, it is located at Central Ketungau District, Sintang Regency, West Kalimantan Province. This area is one of potential area of bauxite. The research was conducted through direct field observation (test pit) and test laboratory observations (petrographic analysis, geochemical analysis, and X-Ray Fluorescence Spectrometry analysis). Geological research area is composed by 6 formations, that are Semitau Complex (CTRs), Kantu Formation (Teka), Tutoop Sandstone (Tetu), Ketungau Formation (Teke), Sintang Intrusive (Toms), and Deposition of Alluvium (Qa). Research area have 4 geomorphological units, that are Synclinal Flexure Zone (S9), Dikes (S11), Fault Line Scraps (S12), and Abandoned River Channels with Standing Water (F2). Dominantly, the bauxite is deposited in Ketungau Formation. Bauxite in this research areas included to lateritic bauxite type with the source rock is weathered igneous rock (allochthonous), and based on account of Ki’s index from XRF analysis and wet chemical analysis is bauxitic clay, and concretionary texture. Bauxite in the research area have an iron content ranged from 5.86 - 47.56%, alumina between 14.98 - 40.84%, and silica between 18.83 - 70.44%, with levels of quality based on the content of alumina is Low Grade with 11-20% grade, Medium Grade with 21-30% levels, and High Grade with levels of 31-40%.
