Semakin banyaknya kasus-kasus HIV/AIDS, maka semakin banyak pula jenis-jenis pelayanan yang muncul dan mempunyai sasaran-sasaran tertentu. Salah satu jenis pelayanan Orang dengan HIV/AIDS (ODHA) adalah VCT. Voluntary atau sukarela artinya semua klien yang akan dikonseling harus dalam bentuk sukarela, tidak boleh dipaksa oleh karena klien posisinya lebih rendah dari konselor atau ikut konseling karena diperintahkan oleh pasangannya. RSUD Prof. Dr. Margono Soekarjo Purwokerto adalah rumah sakit provinsi yang berlokasi di Kabupaten Banyumas. Dengan banyaknya penderita HIV/AIDS di kabupaten tersebut, sebagai sebuah rumah sakit yang memiliki kepedulian terhadap lingkungan, maka pada tahun 2005 di bangunlah pelayanan VCT yang bermaksud untuk mencegah dan memberikan informasi tentang HIV/AIDS dengan melakukan konseling dan testing.
Penelitian ini berjudul “PENANGGULANGAN HIV/AIDS DI PURWOKERTO (Peran VCT dalam Penanggulangan HIV/AIDS di Klinik VCT RSUD Prof. Dr. Margono Soekarjo)”. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana peran VCT dalam penanggulangan HIV AIDS di klinik  VCT RSUD Prof. Dr. Margono Soekarjo, dan tujuan yang lebih terperinci lagi yaitu mengetahui pelayanan, pendekatan dan cara membangun kesadaran klien melalui konseling. Penelitian ini dilakukan di klinik VCT RSUD. Prof. Dr. Margono Soekarjo Purwokerto. Penelitian ini termasuk penelitian kualitatif yang menggambarkan keadaan di lapangan secara deskriptif. Teknik pengambilan informan dalam penelitian ini menggunakan teknik Purposive Sampling.
Hasil penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa Layanan VCT (Voluntary Counselling Testing) merupakan salah  strategi dalam memberikan informasi mengenai HIV/AIDS, tes, pencegahan dan pengobatan terhadap ODHA. Perubahan perilaku sudah dilakukan sejak dalam proses pre-tes. Pendekatan secara personal oleh konselor memiliki fungsi yang sangat penting karena biasanya orang pertama yang ditemui, diajak bercerita adalah konselor pada saat sebelum tes. Pembicaraan tatap muka dan bersifat pribadi menjadi salah satu pendekatan yang dianggap masih efektif untuk memberikan informasi, dukungan dan pelayanan dan cara membangun kesadaran klien dimulai dari adanya sikap empati, karena sikap empati merupakan modal dasar adanya saling percaya antara konselor dengan pasien. Setelah hubungan dilandasi kepercayaan dan pasien merasa nyaman maka proses perawatan selanjutnya akan lebih mudah.

The increasing number the cases of HIV / AIDS caused the kind of services that appear and have certain goals. One type of services people with HIV / AIDS (ODHA) is VCT. Voluntary or voluntary means that all clients should be counseled in the form of voluntary , should not be forced by the client's lower because of the counselor or counseling as ordered by the participating partner. RSUD Prof. Dr. Margono Soekarjo is a province’s hospital that located in Banyumas. With so many people living with HIV / AIDS in the district, as a hospital that has a concern for the environment, then in 2005 in the wake of VCT services intended to prevent and provide information about HIV / AIDS counseling and testing .
The titled of this research is "COUNTERMEASURES OF HIV / AIDS IN PURWOKERTO (Role of VCT in countermeasures of HIV / AIDS in the VCT’s Clinic of RSUD Prof. Dr. Margono Soekarjo)". The aim of this research is to determine the role of VCT in countermeasures HIV AIDS in VCT’s clinic of RSUD Prof. Dr. Margono Soekarjo, and more specifically the objectives are aware of services, approaches and ways to build client awareness through counseling. The research was conducted at the VCT’s clinic of RSUD Prof. Dr. Margono Soekarjo Purwokerto. This research describes the qualitative descriptive field condition. Retrieval techniques informants in this study using purposive sampling technique.
The Result of this research concluded that VCT services (Voluntary Counseling Testing) is one of strategy in providing information on HIV / AIDS, testing, prevention and treatment of PLWHA. Behavior’s change has been made since the pre - test process. Personal approach by the counselor has a very important function because it is usually the first to be found, was invited to talk to a counselor before the test. Face to face conversations and personal to one of the approaches that were deemed to be effective to provide information, support and services and how to build awareness of the client begins empathy, because empathy is the basis of mutual trust between counselor and patient. After a relationship based on trust and patient has been feeling comfortable then subsequent treatment process will be easier.
