Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia)

Penelitian ini berjudul “Analisis Majas dalam Film The Simpsons Movie”. Penelitian ini menggunakan dua landasan teori, yaitu teori klasifikasi jenis – jenis majas dari Perrine (1992) dan teori tentang fungsi bahasa dari Leech (1974). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memaparkan dan menjelaskan jenis - jenis dan fungsi – fungsi majas yang terdapat dalam film The Simpsons Movie.
Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Data penelitian ini diperoleh dari teks bawah pada film The Simpsons Movie. Populasi pada penelitian ini adalah seluruh ucapan dari seluruh karakter dalam The Simpsons Movie. Sampel dari penelitian ini adalah ucapan – ucapan yang mengandung majas yang terdapat dalam teori klasifikasi majas oleh Perrine (1992). Selanjutnya peneliti menggunakan teori klasifikasi fungsi bahasa dari Leech untuk menganalisa fungsi bahasa.
Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan jumlah majas dan fungsinya dalam film The Simpsons Movie. Jumlah majas tersebut yaitu: personifikasi (2), apostrof (4), simile (5), metafora (5), sinekdok (1), metonimi (0), simbol (4), paradoks (0), alegori (1), hiperbola (16), litotes (4), dan ironi (5). Sementara itu, jumlah fungsi bahasa yang terdapat dalam film The Simpsons Movie yaitu: informasional (20), ekspresif (18), direktif (6), fatik (2), and estetik (1). Jumlah majas terbanyak adalah majas hiperbola. Karakter-karakter menggunakan hiperbola untuk mempertegas dan memperjelas isi pesan dan emosi mereka. Jumlah fungsi majas terbanyak adalah fungsi informasional. Karakter-karakter menggunakan beberapa jenis majas sebagai variasi bahasa dalam memberikan informasi dan menggambarkan sesuatu. Majas tidak hanya membuat kata-kata menjadi lebih indah, tetapi juga dapat membantu penutur kata lebih jelas dan kuat dalam mengekpresikan sesuatu.

This research is entitled “An Analysis of Figures of Speech in The Simpsons Movie”. The researcher employs two ground theories; theory of classification of types of figure of speech by Perrine (1992) and theory of language functions by Leech (1974). This research is aimed at describing and explaining the types of figures of speech and their function that occurred in The Simpsons Movie.
The researcher employs a descriptive qualitative method. The researcher collects the data of this research from the subtitle of the film The Simpsons Movie. The population of the data is the entire utterances produced by the characters in the film The Simpsons Movie. The samples of this research are the utterances that contain types of figures of speech classified by Perrine (1992). Then, the researcher uses the theory of classification of language function by Leech (1974) to analyze the function of language.
The result of this research shows a number of figures of speech and their function in the film The Simpsons Movie. They are: personification (2), apostrophe (4), simile (5), metaphor (5), synecdoche (1), metonymy (0), symbol (4), paradox (0), allegory (1), hyperbole (16), litotes (4), and irony (5). Meanwhile, the language function in this film are: informational (20), expressive (18), directive (6), phatic (2), and esthetic (1). The highest number of figures of speech is hyperbole. Hyperbole in this movie is used by the characters to strengthen the message and heighten their emotions. The highest number of the function of figure of speech is informational. The characters use some figures of speech as language variation to inform and describe something to the other characters. Figure of speech is not only to make words beautiful, but it also helps people to express something clearer and stronger.
