Terdapat banyak kesulitan yang mungkin dihadapi oleh para siswa dalam mengikuti proses belajar mengajar. Media pembelajaran merupakan salah satu solusi alternatif yang dipilih guru dalam menyelesaikan kesulitan-kesulitan tersebut. Media pembelajaran pada umumnya didefinisikan sebagai berbagai perlengkapan yang dapat digunakan untuk membantu siswa dalam menguasai materi pelajaran. Terdapat beberapa jenis media pembelajaran, seperti media cetak, media visual, media audio, dan media audio-visual. Media audio-visual sering dianggap sebagai media yang paling efektif karena media tersebut membuat proses belajar mengajar menjadi semakin dekat dengan situasi sebenarnya.
 Film animasi merupakan salah satu contoh media audio-visual yang dapat digunakan dalam proses belajar mengajar. Dalam penelitian ini, film animasi digunakan sebagai media pembelajaran dalam menyusun paragraf deskriptif. Dengan menonton film animasi, para siswa akan memperoleh gambaran yang jelas mengenai tokoh yang akan dideskripsikan sehingga mereka hanya mengeksplorasi apa yang telah mereka tonton menjadi paragraf.
 Dalam penelitian ini, peneliti menggunakan beberapa teknik dalam mengumpulkan data, yaitu observasi, kuesioner, wawancara, dan analisis dokumen. Peneliti mengadakan observasi selama tiga pertemuan. Setelah itu, peneliti mendistribusikan kuesioner kepada siswa. Peneliti juga mewawancarai guru dan siswa supaya memperoleh lebih banyak data yang diperlukan. Kemudian, peneliti mengumpulkan daftar nilai dan tugas portofolio siswa untuk medukung data yang diperoleh melalui observasi, kuesioner, dan wawancara. 
Penelitian ini termasuk dalam penelitian kualitatif. Peneliti menjabarkan hasil penelitian dalam bentuk kata-kata daripada angka. Peneliti memfokuskan pada proses selama guru menerapkan metode tersebut dan hasil yang diperoleh setelah menggunakan metode tersebut. Peneliti juga mengadakan penelitian berdasarkan kondisi yang sebenarnya tanpa memberikan perlakuan apapun kepada siswa. 
Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kesulitan yang dihadapi siswa dalam menyusun paragraf deskriptif adalah mengenai ejaan, penggunaan bahasa yang tidak tepat, pembentukan paragraf, dan kosakata. Berdasarkan wawancara dengan guru, peneliti menemukan bahwa terdapat tiga tahapan dalam penerapan film animasi superhero sebagai media pembelajaran di kelas. Ketiga tahapan tersebut adalah pembukaan, kegiatan siswa, dan penutup. Kegiatan siswa menjadi poin terpenting dalam metode ini karena pada tahapan ini guru memberi kesempatan kepada siswa untuk mengeksplorasi semua kemampuan yang mereka miliki.   Para siswa mempunyai pendapat yang berbeda mengenai penerapan film animasi superhero dalam proses belajar mengajar, tetapi kebanyakan memberikan pendapat yang positif terhadap metode tersebut. Mereka menganggap metode ini adalah sebuah pengalaman baru dan mereka menyukai penerapan metode tersebut.Hasil penelitian ini juga menunjukkan bahwa penerapan metode ini dapat meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam menyusun paragraf deskriptif.

There are many problems that can be faced by the students in following teaching learning process. Teaching medium is one of alternative solutions that is chosen by the teacher to solve those problems. Teaching medium is usually defined as any tools that can be used to help the students in mastering teaching material. There are some types of teaching medium. They are printed media, visual media, audio media, and audio-visual media. Audio-visual media is often considered as the most effective media because it makes teaching learning process become closer to real life situation. 
Animated film is one of the examples of audio-visual media that can be used in teaching learning process. In this research, animated film is used as teaching medium in composing descriptive paragraph. By watching animated film, the students will get clear description about the character that will be described so that they only explore what they have watched into paragraphs. 
In this research, the researcher uses some techniques in collecting the data. They are observation, questionnaire, interview, and documentary analysis. The researcher observes the class in three meetings. After that, the researcher distributes the questionnaire to the students. The researcher also interviews the teacher and the students in order to get more information needed. Then, the researcher collects students’ scores list and student portfolios of written work to support the data from observation, questionnaire, and interview. 
This research belongs to qualitative research. The researcher explains the result of the research in the form of words rather than number. The researcher focuses on the process during the teacher applies his method and the outcome of the method. The researcher also conducts the research in natural setting without giving any treatment to the students. 
The result of this research shows that the problems encountered by the students in composing descriptive paragraph are about spelling, using incorrect language, forming paragraphs, and vocabulary. Based on the interview with the teacher, the researcher find that there are three steps in applying superhero animated film as a teaching medium in the class. They are opening, activity, and closing. Activity becomes the most important point in this method because in this part the teacher gives opportunities to the students to explore all of the ability they have. The students have different opinions about the implementation of superhero animated film in teaching learning process, but most of them give positive opinions toward this method. They think this method is new experience for them and they enjoy the implementation of this method. The result also shows that the implementation of this method can improve the students’ skill in composing descriptive paragraph.
