PERBEDAAN RASIO LUAS NUKLEUS TERHADAP LUAS SITOPLASMA SEL EPITEL MUKOSA BUKAL ANTARA PEROKOK KONVENSIONAL, ELEKTRIK, KOMBINASI, DAN NONPEROKOK PADA MAHASISWA USIA 18-25 TAHUN
Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia)
Latar Belakang.

Background. Cytomorphometric changes, such as the nuclear-to-cytoplasmic area ratio in buccal mucosal epithelial cells, may be induced by nicotine, nitrosamines, acrolein, heavy metals, and others substances found in conventional cigarettes, e-cigarettes, or both. Purpose. The purpose of this study was to determine differences in the ratio of nuclear area to cytoplasmic area in buccal mucosal epithelial cells among conventional smokers, e-cigarette users, combination smokers, and nonsmokers among college students aged 18–25 years. Methods. This was an analytical observational study with a cross sectional design. The sample consisted of 64 respondents who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Sampling was conducted using purposive sampling. The sample was classified into four study groups: Group K1 (conventional smokers), Group K2 (e-cigarette smokers), Group K3 (combination smokers), and Group K4 (non-smokers). Measurements were taken using ImageJ software. Data on the ratio of nuclear area to cytoplasmic area were analyzed using a one-way ANOVA. Result. The result showed not significant difference in the ratio of nuclear area to cytoplasmic area in buccal mucosal epithelial among conventional smokers, e-cigarette users, combination smokers, and non-smokers (p>0,05). Conclusion. In conclusion, there are not significant differences in the ratio of nuclear area to cytoplasmic area in buccal mucosal epithelial cells among conventional smokers, e-cigarettes users, combination smokers, and non-smokers among college student aged 18-25 years.
