QUALITY CONTROL TO REDUCE DEFECTIVE PRODUCTS IN FALSE EYELASHES PRODUCTION USING THE SIX SIGMA DMAIC METHOD (CASE STUDY: UD RR, PURBALINGGA REGENCY)
Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia)

This study aims to analyze quality control in the false eyelash production process at UD RR Purbalingga using the Six Sigma DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control) method. The study employs an operational research approach with a case study design. Data were obtained from historical production and defective product records, supported by direct observation, interviews, and company documentation. The data were analyzed through the stages of the Six Sigma DMAIC method, including identification of Critical to Quality (CTQ), calculation of Defects per Unit (DPU), Defects per Opportunity (DPO), Defects per Million Opportunities (DPMO), and Sigma Level, followed by Pareto and Fishbone diagram analysis to identify dominant defects and their root causes. The results showed that the false eyelash production process at UD RR had an average DPMO value of 21,847.36 with a Sigma Level of 3.52. The dominant defects identified were Broken Fiber Defects and Misalignment Defects. The Fishbone analysis indicated that these defects were influenced by factors related to human resources, methods, machines or equipment, materials, and the production environment. Based on the Analyze stage, improvement strategies were proposed in the Improve stage, including process standardization, operator training, improvement of work methods, and the implementation of poka-yoke as a preventive control mechanism. The Control stage was then developed to maintain process consistency through standardized procedures, monitoring, documentation, and corrective actions. These findings indicate that the Six Sigma DMAIC method can provide a systematic and data-driven framework for identifying defect sources, improving production processes, and reducing defective products in false eyelash manufacturing.
