Sintesis Beads Komposit Fotokatalis Selulosa Asetat/TiO2/Silika Sekam Padi untuk Degradasi Zat Warna Methylene Blue
Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia)

The increase in environmental pollution caused by synthetic dye waste has driven the development of effective photocatalytic materials that can be easily separated from solutions. This study aims to synthesize cellulose acetate/TiO₂/rice husk silica composite beads and evaluate their characteristics and photocatalytic activity toward the degradation of methylene blue. The TiO₂/silica composite was synthesized using silica derived from rice husks and subsequently immobilized into a cellulose acetate matrix to form SA/TiO₂/rice husk composite beads. Material characterization was performed using X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy-Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (SEM-EDS), and UV-Visible Diffuse Reflectance Spectroscopy (UV-Vis DRS). XRD analysis results showed that the composite contained anatase and rutile phases with a crystallite size of 68.26 nm. SEM analysis revealed that the beads had a spherical morphology with a relatively uniform particle distribution, while EDS results confirmed the presence of the elements C, O, Si, and Ti. UV-Vis DRS results showed a bandgap energy of 2.95 eV for the TiO₂/silica composite, 3.33 eV for the SA/TiO₂ control beads, and 3.30 eV for the SA/TiO₂/ silica at 3.30 e. The mass ratio of cellulose acetate to TiO₂/rice husk silica composite was set at 0.5:0.1, with an optimum pH for photodegradation activity at pH 11 and an optimum irradiation time of 5 hours. A test of photocatalytic activity on a 10 ppm methylene blue solution showed that the dye concentration decreased to 0.87 ppm after 5 hours of irradiation, with a degradation efficiency of 91.7%. Kinetic analysis showed that the degradation process followed a pseudo-zero-order kinetic model with a reaction rate constant of 0.4885 ppm h⁻¹ and a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.977. The results of this study indicate that cellulose acetate/TiO₂/rice husk silica beads have the potential to be used as photocatalysts for dye wastewater treatment.
