Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia)

Artikel hasil penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: 1)  memahami dan mendeskripsikan pola politik identitas Kaum Mormon di Indonesia melalui representasi keberadaan Gereja Yesus Kristus OSZA di DKI Jakarta; 2) memahami dan mendeskripsikan upaya Gereja Yesus Kristus OSZA di DKI Jakarta untuk memperjuangkan kesetaraan hak Kaum Mormon sebagai salah satu kelompok keagamaan di Indonesia.  Dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif dan pendekatan etnografi dalam bingkai perspektif pascastruktural dan paradigma konstruksionisme, hasil penelitian tersebut mengungkapkan bahwa politik identitas Kaum Mormon di Indonesia merupakan representasi perjuangan Gereja Yesus Kristus dari Orang-Orang Suci Zaman Akhir (OSZA) di DKI Jakarta untuk mendapatkan pengakuan dan kesetaraan sebagai salah satu kelompok keagamaan di Indonesia.  Representasi tersebut terlihat dari pola politik identitas yang dijalankan oleh Gereja Yesus Kristus dari Orang-Orang Suci Zaman Akhir (OSZA) di DKI Jakarta, baik melalui politics of difference maupun politics of recognition.  Politics of difference Gereja Yesus Kristus OSZA di DKI Jakarta dicerminkan melalui gaya hidup Kaum Mormon yang menjadi perbedaan sekaligus brand kelompok tersebut dalam menjangkau calon anggota.  Sementara politics of recognition Gereja Yesus Kristus OSZA di DKI Jakarta dilakukan melalui kegiatan kemanusiaan yang menjadi metode sekaligus brand Kaum Mormon di Indonesia dalam membentuk cara pandang masyarakat bahwa mereka juga memiliki hak untuk memperoleh kesetaraan yang sama dengan kelompok keagamaan lainnya.  Secara keseluruhan, pola politik identitas Kaum Mormon di Indonesia tercermin dari upaya Gereja Yesus Kristus OSZA di DKI Jakarta untuk mendapatkan pengakuan dan kesetaraan yang dilakukan melalui 3 (tiga) kegiatan besar, yaitu kegiatan diplomasi, kegiatan kemanusiaan dan kegiatan publikasi.  Kesimpulannya adalah bahwa politik identitas Kaum Mormon di Indonesia yang direpresentasikan oleh Gereja Yesus Kristus OSZA di DKI Jakarta menjadi cerminan dari perjuangan kaum minoritas dalam mendapatkan pengakuan dan kesetaraan yang hanya bisa diwujudkan dalam sebuah masyarakat yang multikultural.

This research-based paper aims at: 1) understanding and describing the pattern of the Mormons’ identity politics in Indonesia through the representation of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Jakarta; 2) understanding and describing the efforts of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Jakarta in struggling the equality of the Mormons’ rights as one of the religious group in Indonesia.  By using a qualitative method and ethnographic approach in the framework of the post-structural perspective and the constructivism paradigm, the result of the research reveals that the Mormons’ identity politics in Indonesia constitutes the struggle representation of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Jakarta to get the recognition and equality as one of the religious groups in Indonesia.  The representation is seen from the pattern of identity politics done by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Jakarta, whether through the politics of difference or politics of recognition.  The politics of difference done by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Jakarta is reflected through the Mormons’ life style which becomes the difference as well as the brand of the group in getting the prospective members.  Whereas the politics of recognition done by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Jakarta is reflected from the humanity activities which become the method as well as the brand of the Mormons in Indonesia in shaping the people’s world view that the Mormons also have the right to get the equality as other groups do.  As a whole, the pattern of the Mormons’ identity politics in Indonesia is reflected from the efforts of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Jakarta to get the recognition and equality done through 3 (three) big activities, i.e. diplomacy activities, humanity activities and publicity activities.  In conclusion, the Mormons’ identity politics in Indonesia represented by the the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Jakarta becomes the reflection of the minorities’ struggles in getting the recognition and equality which is only able to be realized in a multicultural society.
