Penelitian ini berjudul “Konflik Sosial dalam Novel Merpati Biru Karya Achmad Munif”. Konflik sosial merupakan hal yang menonjol dalam novel Merpati Biru yang diuraikan dalam latar belakang penelitian. Berdasarkan latar belakang tersebut diperoleh rumusan masalah yaitu bagaimanakah deskripsi singkat mengenai, tokoh, alur, dan latar dalam novel Merpati Biru dan bagaimanakah konflik sosial yang tergambar dalam novel Merpati Biru.
Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan secara singkat gambaran cerita dalam novel Merpati Biru yang meliputi tokoh, alur, dan latar serta mendeskripsikan  konflik sosial yang ada. Manfaat penelitian ini adalah, secara teoritis diharapkan dapat menambah pemahaman tentang analisis karya sastra berupa novel khususnya dalam ruang lingkup sosiologi sastra.  Adapun manfaat praktis digunakan sebagai referensi untuk penelitian selanjutnya serta menambah pengetahuan bagi pembaca novel Merpati Biru karya Achmad Munif.
Metode dalam penelitian ini  menggunakan metode deskriptif analitik, yaitu metode yang dilakukan dengan cara mendeskripsikan unsur-unsur instrinsik karya fiksi, kemudian disusul dengan analisis. Selanjutnya unsur tesebut dihubungkan dengan menggunakan pendekatan sosiologi sastra untuk mengetahui konflik sosial yang ada pada novel Merpati Biru karya Achma Munif.
Objek penelitian ini adalah novel Merpati Biru karya Achmad Munif  yang akan dianalisis menggunakan pendekatan sosiologi sastra. Teknik analisis data dalam penelitian ini adalah membaca keseluruhan novel dengan cermat dan teliti kemudian mencatat kata dan kalimat yang berhubungan dengan tokoh, alur, dan latar  yang terdapat dalam novel. Selanjutnya, data tersebut diklasifikasikan  berdasarkan tokoh, alur, dan latar. Kemudian unsur-unsur intrinsik tersebut diuraikan kembali menggunakan teori sosiologi sastra untuk mengetahui konflik sosial yang terdapat di dalam novel. Hasil ini menunjukan bahwa di dalam novel terdapat konflik sosial yang akan disampaikan oleh pengarang terhadap pembaca.

This research Entitled "Konflik Sosial dalam Novel Merpati Biru Karya Achmad Munif". Social conflict is a prominent issue in the novel of Merpati Biru which described in the background of study. Based on this background, is obtained regarding to the formulation of the problem about how a short description of the character, plot, and setting in Merpati Biru novel and social conflicts depicted in the novel.
The purpose of this study is to briefly describe the idea of the story in the novel, including character, plot and the setting and describe the social conflicts existing. Benefits of this research are; theoretically, expected to increase the understanding of the analysis of literary works such as novels in particular regarding the scope of sociology of literature. The practical benefit is used as a reference for further research and increase knowledge for readers of  Merpati Biru novel by Achmad Munif.
The method uses in this research is descriptive analytic method, a method that is done by describing intrinsic elements of fiction, and then followed by analysis. Further elements are connected using a sociological approach to literature to determine the social conflicts that exist in the novel of Merpati Biru by Achmad Munif.
The Object of this study is the Merpati Biru novel by Achmad Munif that will be analyzed by using literary sociology approach. The data analysis in this research is to read a whole novel carefully and thoroughly then record the words and sentences related to character, plot, and setting contained in the novel. Furthermore, the data is classified based on character, plot, and setting. Then the intrinsic elements are re-described by using sociological theory literature to determine the social conflict in the novel. These results indicate that the existing social conflict in the novel will be presented by the author to the reader.
