Tujuan dari penelitian yang berjudul “An Analysis of Narcissistic Personality Disorder of Tom Marvolo Riddle (Lord Voldemort) Depicted in J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince Novel” adalah untuk menganalisa bentuk-bentuk narsisisme Lord Voldemort dan untuk mengetahui penyebab Lord Voldemort mengidap penyakit kepribadian narsistik.
Metode penelitian deskriptif kualitatif diterapkan dalam penelitian ini untuk menganalisa bentuk-bentuk dan penyebab narsisisme Lord Voldemort. Sumber data penelitian ini adalah sebuah novel yang berjudul “Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince” dan dianalisa dengan menggunakan teori penyakit kepribadian narsisistik melalui percakapan antar tokoh, monolog tokoh dan narasi penulis.  
Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa Lord Voldemort memiliki 16 bentuk perilaku narsisistik yang dikelompokan ke dalam 8 ciri-ciri penyakit kepribadian narsistik. Ciri-ciri tersebut adalah (1) merasa berlebihan, superior, dan merasa diri sendiri penting, (2) merasa unik, berbeda, spesial, dan hanya bisa bersosialisasi dan dipahami oleh mereka yang juga unik dan spesial, (3) menginginkan orang lain untuk memujanya atau takut padanya, (4) mengeksploitasi orang lain untuk kepentingan pribadi, (5) tidak memiliki rasa empati, (6) merasa iri terhadap orang lain, berusaha untuk menyakiti dan memusnahkan orang-orang yang membuatnya frustasi, dan memiliki khayalan bahwa orang-orang tersebut juga iri kepadanya, (7) memiliki perilaku sombong dan akan marah jika merasa frustasi, dibantah, atau ditentang, dan (8) memiliki identitas palsu. Penyebab penyakit kepribadian narsisistik yang dialami oleh Lord Voldemort adalah karena tidak didapatnya perhatian dan kasih sayang dari orangtuanya. Ayahnya meninggalkannya ketika dia masih di dalam kandungan dan ibunya lebih memilih untuk mati daripada hidup bersamanya.

The aims of the research entitled “An Analysis of Narcissistic Personality Disorder of Tom Marvolo Riddle (Lord Voldemort) Depicted in J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince Novel” are to analyze the narcissistic forms of Lord Voldemort and to figure out the cause of the personality disorder he suffers from.
Method of Descriptive Qualitative is applied in this research to analyze the narcissistic forms of Lord Voldemort and its cause. The data source is the novel of “Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince” and is analyzed through the usage of Narcissistic Personality Disorder theory on the dialogue between characters, characters’ monologues and the author’s narration.
The result of this analysis shows 16 forms of Lord Voldemort’s narcissism which are grouped into 8 symptoms of Narcissistic Personality Disorder. Those symptoms are (1) feeling grandiose, superior and self-important, (2) feeling that he is unique, different, special, and can only be understood by or associate with the other special and unique people, (3) requiring admiration or wishing to be feared by others, (4) exploiting others to achieve his or her purposes, (5) having no empathy, (6) envying others, seeking to hurt and destroy the object of his or her frustration, and suffering from delusion that they feel the same about him, (7) behaving arrogantly and raging when frustrated, contradicted, or confronted, and (8) having fake identity. The cause of Narcissistic Personality Disorder which happens to Lord Voldemort is the lack of parents’ attention and love. His father leaves him when he is still in his mother’s womb and his mother chooses death instead of living with him.
