THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN SELF-EFFICACY, ROLE MODELS, PERCEPTIONS OF NURSING AND INTENTION TO BECOME A NURSE
Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia)
Efikasi diri (p = 0,032; OR = 1,804), persepsi tentang keperawatan (p = 0,001; OR = 2,471), dan role model (p = 0,034; OR = 1,968) secara simultan memengaruhi niat untuk menjadi perawat.

Background: The global demand for nurses continues to increase, while the WHO projects a shortage of 4.5 million nurses by 2030 and this shortage persists despite professional socialization efforts in nursing education. Purpose: Examined the relationship between self-efficacy, role models, perceptions of nursing, and the intention to become a nurse. Methodology: A quantitative correlational study with a cross-sectional design was conducted. Data were collected through Google Forms. The sample consisted of 256 nursing students selected through proportionate stratified random sampling. Data were analyzed using Chi-square tests and binary logistic regression. Results: Significant relationship between self-efficacy and the intention to become a nurse (p = 0.007) and between perceptions of the nursing profession and intention (p = 0.001). No significant relationship between role models and intention (p = 0.085). Self-efficacy (p = 0.032; OR = 1.804), perceptions of nursing (p = 0.001; OR = 2.471), and role models (p = 0.034; OR = 1.968) simultaneously influenced the intention to become a nurse. Conclusion: Self-efficacy, perceptions of nursing, and role models simultaneously influence the intention to become a nurse, with perceptions of nursing as the strongest predictor. Keywords: intention, perception, role models, self-efficacy
