Petani cabai rawit di Kecamatan Ngombol menghadapi tantangan dalam meningkatkan kesejahteraannya, terkait dengan akses pasar yang terbatas dan
fluktuasi harga jual. Partisipasi dalam pasar lelang dianggap sebagai salah satu
solusi potensial untuk memperoleh harga yang lebih baik dan meningkatkan
penerimaan serta kesejahteraan mereka. Meskipun demikian, tidak semua petani
aktif mengikuti pasar lelang.
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh partisipasi petani cabai
rawit dalam pasar lelang terhadap tingkat kesejahteraannya di Kecamatan Ngombol,
Kabupaten Purworejo. Data dikumpulkan dari 93 petani melalui kuesioner,
wawancara, dan studi mendalam. Dengan sejumlah 48 petani yang mengikuti pasar
lelang dan 45 yang tidak. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan analisis statistik
deskriptif untuk mengidentifikasi karakteristik responden serta model dua tahap
Heckman untuk mengetahui factor-faktor yang memengaruhi partisipasi terhadap
kesejahteraan. Pada tahap pertama uji Heckman, dilakukan uji probit untuk
mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor yang memengaruhi partisipasi petani cabai rawit
dalam pasar lelang. Sedangkan pada tahap kedua, regresi OLS digunakan untuk
mengetahui faktor partisipasi terhadap kesejahteraan petani.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa petani cabai rawit yang berpartisipasi
dalam pasar lelang memiliki karakteristik rata-rata usia 52 tahun (usia produktif),
pendidikan tingkat SMA, luas lahan kurang dari 0,5 hektar, lahan milik pribadi,
harga jual cabai antara Rp50.000 hingga Rp60.000 per kilogram, dengan
penerimaan usahatani lebih dari Rp8.000.000 dan pengeluaran antara Rp2.000.000
sampai Rp9.000.000. Mekanisme pasar lelang berlangsung setiap Hari Senin
sampai Sabtu malam dengan sistem tertutup. Proses dimulai dengan petani
menyetorkan cabainya, kemudian pembeli besar melakukan penawaran melalui
WhatsApp, sampai cabai rawit diambil langsung di pasar lelang oleh pembeli. Hasil
analisis Heckman artinya 𝐻0 ditolak sedangkan 𝐻1 diterima. Faktor-faktor yang
memengaruhi partisipasi petani adalah usia, tingkat pendidikan, jarak ke pasar, dan
harga jual cabai rawit. Usia, pendidikan, dan harga jual berpengaruh positif
terhadap partisipasi, sedangkan jarak ke pasar berpengaruh negatif. Selain itu,
faktor yang signifikan memengaruhi kesejahteraan petani meliputi tingkat
pendidikan, jumlah anggota keluarga, status kepemilikan lahan, dan total
penerimaan.

Chili pepper farmers in Ngombol District face challenges in improving their
welfare due to limited market access and fluctuating selling prices. Participation in
auction markets is considered a potential solution to obtain better prices and
improve their income and welfare. However, not all farmers actively participate in
auction markets.
This study aims to determine the effect of chili pepper farmer participation in
auction markets on their welfare in Ngombol District, Purworejo Regency. Data
were collected from 93 farmers through questionnaires, interviews, and in-depth
studies. Forty-eight farmers participated in auction markets and 45 did not. This
research method used descriptive statistical analysis to identify respondent
characteristics and a two-stage Heckman model to identify factors influencing
participation and welfare. In the first stage, a probit Heckman test was conducted
to identify factors influencing chili pepper farmer participation in auction markets.
In the second stage, OLS regression was used to determine the impact of
participation on farmer welfare.
The results of the study indicate that cayenne pepper farmers who participated
in the auction market have the characteristics of an average age of 52 years
(productive age), high school education, land area less than 0.5 hectares, privately
owned land, chili selling price between Rp50,000 to Rp60,000 per kilogram, with
farm income of more than Rp8,000,000 and expenses between Rp2,000,000 to
Rp9,000,000. The auction market mechanism takes place every Monday to Saturday
night with a closed system. The process begins with farmers depositing their chilies,
then large buyers make offers via WhatsApp, until the cayenne peppers are taken
directly at the auction market by buyers. The results of the Heckman analysis mean
that H_0 is rejected while H_1 is accepted. Factors that influence farmer
participation are age, education level, distance to the market, and the selling price
of cayenne pepper. Age, education, and selling price have a positive effect on
participation, while distance to the market has a negative effect. In addition,
significant factors influencing farmer welfare include education level, number of
family members, land ownership status, and total income.
