Skripsi ini berjudul "An Analysis of Code-Switching in Disney Movie Encanto (2021)". Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis jenis dan fungsi alih kode yang digunakan oleh tokoh-tokoh dalam film Encanto (2021). Penelitian ini menggunakan teori dari Wardhaugh (2006) untuk mengidentifikasi tipe - tipe alih kode serta teori Appel & Muysken (2005) untuk menganalisis fungsinya. Data yang dikumpulkan berasal dari tuturan seluruh karakter dalam film Encanto (2021). Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, terdapat 17 (65%) data alih kode metaforis dan 9 (35%) data alih kode situasional. Lebih lanjut, terdapat pula 26 data fungsi alih kode yang terdiri dari 2 (8%) data fungsi referensial, 1 data (4%) fungsi direktif, 16 data (62%) fungsi ekspresif, 3 data (12%) fungsi fatik, 4 data (15%) fungsi metalinguistik, dan 0 data (0%) fungsi poetik. Fungsi ekspresif menjadi fungsi yang paling dominan dan paling menarik dalam film ini karena kebanyakan ujaran ujaran alih kode antara karakter merepresentasikan perasaan dan identitas budaya mereka. Namun tidak ditemukan fungsi puitis dalam penelitian ini karena tidak ada ujaran atau percakapan yang mengandung kutipan puitis dalam film ini.

This thesis is entitled "Analysis of Code Switching in the Disney movie Encanto (2021)". This study examines the types and functions of code switching in the movie Encanto (2021) using Wardhaugh's (2006) theory to identify the types of code switching and Appel and Muysken's (2005) theory to analyze the functions of code switching. The data in this study were obtained from all code switching utterances spoken by all characters in the movie Encanto (2021). The results showed that there were 26 code switching utterances used by the characters in the movie Encanto (2021). The data were classified into metaphorical code switching and situational code switching. Based on the data obtained and the results of the analysis, there were 17 (65%) metaphorical code switching data and 9 (35%) situational code switching data. Furthermore, there are also 26 data of code switching functions consisting of 2 (8%) data of referential function, 1 data (4%) of directive function, 16 data (62%) of expressive function, 3 data (12%) of phatic function, 4 data (15%) of metalinguistic function, and 0 data (0%) of poetic function. The expressive function is the most dominant and most interesting function in this movie because most of the code switching utterances between characters represent their feelings and cultural identity. For example, feelings of joy, enthusiasm, frustration, and so on. Furthermore, This movie also shows cultural identity through the use of Spanish and traditional Colombian elements.
