Jahe merah mengandung senyawa gingerol yang memiliki aktivitas farmakologis sebagai antiemetik dan antimual. Sediaan jahe merah yang beredaran saat ini masih memiliki keterbatasan seperti obat tradisional seduhan memiliki rasa yang kurang disukai oleh sebagian orang dan obat konvensional tablet memiliki ukuran sediaan yang relatif besar dapat menjadi kendala bagi individu dengan kesulitan menelan dan lansia. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan suatu pengembangan sediaan oral fast dissolving film (OFDF). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memformulasikan OFDF ekstrak jahe merah sebagai terapi mual muntah dengan variasi konsentrasi krospovidon. Ekstraksi dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode maserasi. Pembuatan sediaan OFDF dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode solvent casting, kemudian dilanjutkan dengan evaluasi sifat fisik serta uji stabilitas fisik untuk mengetahui karakteristik sediaan. Sediaan yang dibuat menunjukkan bahwa uji sifat fisik sediaan telah memenuhi syarat, namun bobot sediaan tidak seragam terdapat penyimpangan dengan bobot rata-rata. Sediaan OFDF dengan waktu hancur paling cepat yaitu F3 dengan konsentrasi krospovidon 4% dengan waktu hancur 35 detik. Kecepatan ini akan menghasilkan onset aksi yang lebih cepat, sehingga efektif meredakan gejala mual dan muntah lebih cepat dibanding sediaan konvensional.

Red ginger contains gingerol compounds that have pharmacological activity as antiemetics and antinausea. Currently available red ginger preparations still have limitations, such as traditional herbal teas that have a taste that is not preferred by some people, and conventional tablets have a relatively large dosage size that can be an obstacle for individuals with difficulty swallowing and the elderly. Therefore, the development of oral fast dissolving film (OFDF) preparations is needed. This study aims to formulate OFDF red ginger extract as a therapy for nausea and vomiting with varying concentrations of crospovidone. Extraction was carried out using the maceration method. The OFDF preparation was made using the solvent casting method, followed by evaluation of physical properties and physical stability tests to determine the characteristics of the preparation. The preparations made showed that the physical properties of the preparation had met the requirements, but the weight of the preparation was not uniform, there was a deviation from the average weight. The OFDF preparation with the fastest disintegration time was F3 with a crospovidone concentration of 4% with a disintegration time of 35 seconds. This speed will result in a faster onset of action, thus effectively relieving symptoms of nausea and vomiting more quickly than conventional preparations.
