PEMANFAATAN BAKTERI ANTAGONIS UNTUK MENGENDALIKAN PENYAKIT LAYU BAKTERI Ralstonia solanacearum PADA TANAMAN KENTANG

Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan bakteri antagonis dalam mengendalikan penyakit layu bakteri pada tanaman kentang, meningkatkan pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman kentang, serta mengimbas ketahanan tanaman kentang. Penelitian dilaksanakan di lahan percobaan Desa Serang, Kecamatan Karangreja, Kabupaten Purbalingga serta di Laboratorium Perlindungan Tanaman, Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Jenderal Soedirman, Purwokerto, dari bulan April sampai Juli 2012. Penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) yang terdiri atas 6 perlakuan dan 4 kali ulangan. Perlakuan yang dicoba meliputi: kontrol, Bacillus sp. B2, Bacillus sp. B4, P. fluorescens P19, P. fluorescens P21, dan bakterisida. Variabel yang diamati adalah periode inkubasi, intensitas penyakit, laju infeksi, kepadatan akhir patogen dan antagonis, kandungan senyawa fenol (glikosida, tannin, dan saponin), tinggi tanaman, bobot segar dan kering tanaman, bobot segar dan kering akar, serta jumlah dan bobot umbi kentang per tanaman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa aplikasi bakteri antagonis belum mampu mengendalikan penyakit layu bakteri dan meningkatkan pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman kentang. Aplikasi bakteri antagonis P. fluorescens P19 memiliki kemampuan dalam mengimbas ketahanan tanaman kentang.

This research aimed at knowing antagonistic bacteria ability in controlling the disease on potato, increasing growth and yield of potato, and inducing potato crop resistance to the pathogenic bacteria. The Research was carried out in the experimental field at Serang Village, Karangreja District, Purbalingga Regency and at the Laboratory of Plant Protection, Faculty of Agriculture, Jenderal Soedirman University, Purwokerto, started from April up to July 2012. Randomized Block Design (RBD) was used with six treatments and four replicates. The treatments tested were control, Bacillus sp. B2, Bacillus sp. B4, P. fluorescens P19, P. fluorescens P21, and bactericide. Variable observed were incubation period, desease intensity, infection rate, late population pathogen or antagonist, phenolic (glycoside, tannin, dan saponin) compound content, crop height, wet and dry weight of crop, wet and dry weight of root, and number and weight of tubers per crop. Result of the research showed that application of the antagonistic bacteria could not be able to control the disease on potato and increase growth and yield of potato. Application of P. fluorescens P19 antagonists could induce the crop resistance.
