Fenomena kebahasaan sering ditemukan di dalam masyarakat tutur, salah satunya adalah alih kode. Pada penelitian ini membahas terkait alih kode yang terjadi pada tuturan pemelajar BIPA di Universitas Jenderal Soedirman. Mahasiswa BIPA dipilih sebagai fokus pada penelitian ini karena belum ada penelitian yang membahas alih kode pada pemelajar BIPA, khususnya di Universitas Jenderal Soedirman. Kajian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis bentuk dan faktor yang melatarbelakangi terjadinya alih kode pada pemelajar BIPA di universitas Jenderal Soedirman. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif yang menekankan pada pengamatan peristiwa tutur yang dilakukan oleh pemelajar BIPA di Universitas Jenderal Soedirman. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik sadap dan lanjutannya adalah teknik simak. Selain itu, peneliti menggunakan teknik wawancara, rekam, dan catat untuk mendapatkan informasi yang dibutuhkan. Data hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya 14 peristiwa alih kode yang didominasi oleh alih kode ke luar (ekstern), kode bahasa Inggris. Latar belakang terjadinya peristiwa tersebut didominasi oleh faktor penutur, mitra tutur, dan topik pembicaraan.

Linguistic phenomena are often found in speech communities, one of which is code switching. This research discusses code switching that occurs in the speech of BIPA learners at Universitas Jenderal Soedirman. BIPA students are chosen as the focus of this study because there is no research that discusses code switching in BIPA learners, especially at Universitas Jenderal Soedirman. This study aims to analyze the forms and factors behind the occurrence of code switching in BIPA learners at Universitas Jenderal Soedirman. The method used is qualitative method which emphasizes on the observation of speech events conducted by BIPA learners at Universitas Jenderal Soedirman. The data collection technique uses tapping technique and its follow-up is listening technique. In addition, researchers used interview, recording, and note-taking techniques to get the information needed. The data showed that there were 14 code-switching events which were dominated by external code-switching, English code. The background of the event is dominated by the factors of speakers, speech partners, and the topic of conversation.
