Minat generasi Z di sektor pertanian tergolong rendah karena berbagai faktor, seperti persepsi negatif terhadap prospek kerja dan ketidakpastian pendapatan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan Social Cognitive Career Theory (SCCT) untuk memahami fenomena tersebut. Pendekatan ini menekankan pengaruh efikasi diri, harapan hasil, dan tujuan karier pribadi terhadap pembentukan minat karier mahasiswa. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis tingkat minat mahasiswa rumpun pertanian di Universitas Jenderal Soedirman, Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto, dan Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama Purwokerto terhadap karier di sektor pertanian, serta mengkaji pengaruh variabel-variabel dalam SCCT terhadap minat karier tersebut.
Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 327 mahasiswa yang dipilih melalui teknik sampel kuota. Analisis data dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) dan dilanjutkan Analisis Multigrup (MGA) dengan bantuan perangkat lunak SmartPLS 4.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tingkat minat mahasiswa terhadap karier di sektor pertanian tergolong dalam kategori sedang. Harapan hasil terbukti berpengaruh positif terhadap minat dan tujuan karier, sedangkan efikasi diri tidak berpengaruh langsung terhadap minat namun berpengaruh tidak langsung melalui tujuan karier. Hasil MGA menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan pola hubungan antar variabel berdasarkan program studi, di mana mahasiswa Teknologi Pangan menunjukkan pola yang berbeda dibandingkan program studi lainnya. Sedangkan untuk kelompok tahun angkatan, mahasiswa angkatan 2022 menunjukkan pola minat karier yang lebih rendah dibandingkan lainnya. Temuan ini menunjukkan pentingnya pendekatan pembinaan karier yang disesuaikan dengan karakteristik program studi dan tahap perkembangan akademik mahasiswa.

Generation Z's low interest in the agricultural sector is caused by various factors, such as negative perceptions of job prospects and income uncertainty. To understand this phenomenon, this study uses the Social Cognitive Career Theory (SCCT) approach which emphasizes the influence of self-efficacy, outcome expectations, and personal goals on the formation of students' career interests. The purpose of this study is to analyze the level of interest of agriculture students at Jenderal Soedirman University, Muhammadiyah Purwokerto University, and Nahdlatul Ulama Purwokerto University towards careers in the agricultural sector, and examine the influence of variables in SCCT on career interest.
This study used a quantitative approach with a sample size of 327 students selected through the quota sampling technique. Data analysis was carried out using the Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) method and continued Multigroup Analysis (MGA) with the help of SmartPLS 4 software.
The results showed that the level of student interest in careers in the agricultural sector was in the medium category. Outcome expectations proved to have a positive effect on interest and career goals, while self-efficacy has no direct effect on interest but has an indirect effect through career goals. The MGA results show that there are differences in the pattern of relationships between variables based on study programs, where Food Technology students show a different pattern compared to other study programs. As for the year group, the 2022 students showed a lower career interest pattern than the others. These findings indicate the importance of a career coaching approach that is tailored to the characteristics of the study program and the stage of academic development of students.
