JENIS DAN KELIMPAHAN FITOPLANKTON SERTA KONSENTRASI LOGAM BERAT DI LOKASI PEMBUANGAN LIMBAH INDUSTRI MINYAK MUARA SUNGAI DONAN, CILACAP
Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia)

The Donan River Estuary in Cilacap, Central Java, is a site of anthropogenic activities, including the disposal of industrial oil waste, which has the potential to pollute water with heavy metals such as lead (Pb), cadmium (Cd), and mercury (Hg). This study aimed to identify the types and abundance of phytoplankton and measure the concentration of heavy metals at the site. Phytoplankton and water samples were collected from three stations using purposive sampling, representing different activity characteristics. Phytoplankton identification was conducted at the Laboratory of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Jenderal Soedirman University, while heavy metal analysis was performed using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry (AAS). The results revealed the presence of 7 phytoplankton classes, with the highest abundance found in Stauroneis sp. (3,378.89 ind/L) and Oscillatoria sp. (861.73 ind/L). The total phytoplankton abundance reached 9.661,11 ind/L. Heavy metals concentrations showed Hg <0.0001 mg/L, Pb <0.0006 mg/L, and Cd 0.0029 mg/L. The levels of Hg and Pb were below the ANZECC and CCME standards, while Cd exceeded the limits set by the Indonesian Ministry of Environment Decree No. 51 of 2004 and CCME, but remained within the tolerable limits according to the 2013 Water Quality Association (WQA) standard. The Cd concentration also exceeded the ANZECC recommendation (0.0007 mg/L).
