This research is entitled “Remi’s Survival as a Foundling Child in Hector Malot’s Nobody’s Boy”, which analyzes the Remi’s life as a foundling child and Remi’s survival in fulfilling his basic needs. The Object of the research is a novel entitled Nobody’s Boy by Hector malot. The method of this research is descriptive qualitative that describes the phenomenon of Remi’s survival as a foundling child in fulfilling his basic needs. The result of this research shows that Remi is a foundling child, who has to fulfill his own basic needs without the presence of parents. Remi’s physiological and safety needs as a foundling child in Barberin family has been fulfilled by Mother Barberin, but not for Remi’s others basic needs. Remi’s social need, esteem need, and cognitive need are fulfilled by Signor Vitalis, while he learns to be a travelling artist. Remi’s survival as a travelling artist occurs by transforming his life experiences with Vitalis. He is motivated to fulfill his basic needs by himself, based on the theory of flow in children developmental psychology. Remi aesthetic need are fulfilled after he enable to motivate himself to survive and enjoy his life as a travelling artist with Matia. Then, the self-actualization and transcendence need are fulfilled after Remi meets his real family.

Penelitian ini berjudul “Remi’s Survival as a Foundling Child in Hector Malot’s Nobody’s Boy”, yang meneliti kehidupan Remi sebagai anak angkat dan perjuangan hidup Remi untuk memenuhi kehituhan hidupnya. Objek penelitian ini adalah novel yang berjudul Nobody’s Boy karya Hector Malot. Metode penelitian ini adalah descriptive kualitiatif yaitu menggambarkan fenomena perjuangan Remi sebagai anak angkat dalam memenuhi kebutuhan hidupnya. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa Remi adalah seorang anak angkat yang harus memenuhi kebutuhan hidupnya sendiri tanpa kehadiran orang tua. Kebutuhan fisiologis dan keamanan Remi sebagai anak angkat di keluarga Barberin telah dipenuhi oleh Ibu Barberin, tetapi kebutuhan lainnya tidak. Kebutuhan social, kebutuhan kepercayaan diri dan kebutuhan kognitif Remi terpenuhi oleh Signor Vitalis, ketika Remi belajar menjadi seorang artis keliling. Dalam kasus ini, perjuangan Remisebagai artis keliling terjadi berdasarkan pengalaman hidupnya bersama Vitalis yang memotivasi dia untuk berjuang memenuhi kebutuhan hidupnya sendiri, berdasarkan teori flow di psikologis perkembangan anak. Sedangkan kebutuhan estetis Remi terpenuhi setelah dia bisa memotivasi dirinya untuk berjuang dan menikmati hidupnya sebagai artis keliling bersama Matia. Kemudian, kebutuhan aktualisasi diri dan kebutuhan spiritual terpenuhi ketika Remi bertemu dengan keluarga aslinya.
