Penelitian ini mengkaji strategi penerjemahan lagu dan kelayakan bernyanyi (singability) dari lagu anak-anak dengan menganalisis dua lagu terjemahan: “Guess the Animal Song – Tebak Nama Hewan” dan “The Tortoise and the Hare – Kura-kura dan Kelinci” dari saluran YouTube Cocomelon dalam bahasa Inggris dan Indonesia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi strategi penerjemahan yang digunakan serta mengevaluasi singability dari lagulagu tersebut. Dengan menggunakan purposive sampling dan pendekatan penelitian kualitatif, studi ini menerapkan teori strategi penerjemahan lagu dari Åkerström (2009) dan teori singability dari Franzon (2008) pada 31 baris dari “Guess the Animal Song” dan 37 baris dari “The Tortoise and the Hare”. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dalam “Guess the Animal Song”, terdapat enam strategi penerjemahan yang digunakan, yaitu: omission of words (57%), use of rhymes (11%), use of paraphrases (11%), word-for-word translation (11%), reorganization of words and lines of text (5%), dan use of English words (5%). Sedangkan dalam lagu “The Tortoise and The Hare”, terdapat lima strategi yang ditemukan: omission of words (47.5%), use of rhymes (29.5%),use of paraphrases (18%), reorganization of words and lines of text (3%), dan addition of words (2%). Omission adalah strategi yang paling banyak digunakan dalam kedua lagu tersebut. Kedua terjemahan lagu memiliki skor singability yang tinggi, dengan “Guess the Animal Song” sebesar 86% dan “The Tortoise and the Hare” 82,9%, menunjukkan bahwa keduanya mudah dan alami dinyanyikan. Strategi penerjemahan yang digunakan secara signifikan memengaruhi singability lagu-lagu tersebut.

This research investigates song translation strategies and their singability of children songs by analyzing two translated songs: “Guess the Animal Song – Tebak Nama Hewan” and “The Tortoise and the Hare – Kura-kura dan Kelinci” from Cocomelon’s YouTube channel in English and Indonesian. The study seeks to identify the translation strategies used and evaluate their singability. Employing purposive sampling and a qualitative research approach, the study applies Åkerström’s (2009) theory of song translation strategies and Franzon’s (2008) singability theory to 31 lines from “Guess the Animal Song” and 37 lines from “The Tortoise and the Hare”. The findings show that in “Guess the Animal Song,” six translation strategies were used: omission of words (57%), use of rhymes (11%), use of paraphrases (11%), word-for-word translation (11%), reorganization of words and lines of text (5%), and use of English words (5%). For “The Tortoise and the Hare,” five strategies were identified: omission of words (47.5%), use of rhymes (29.5%), use of paraphrases (18%), reorganization of words and lines of text (3%), and addition of words (2%). Omission was the most frequently used strategy in both songs. Both translations scored high in singability, with “Guess the Animal Song” at 86% and “The Tortoise and the Hare” at 82.9%, indicating that they are both easy and natural to sing. Furthermore, the choice of translation strategies significantly impacts the songs’ singability.
