The Mahuzes (2015) adalah sebuah film dokumenter karya Watchdoc dalam Ekspedisi Indonesia Biru yang lebih menekankan perjuangan masyarakat Malind di Merauke dalam mempertahankan tanah atau hutan adat melawan perusahaan kepala sawit dan proyek MIFEE.  Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui apa saja budaya sasi dalam film dokumenter The Mahuzes (2015). Penelitian ini menggunakan kajian teori semiotika John Fiske yaitu tiga tahapan pengkodean; realitas, representasi, dan ideologi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dan data yang dikumpulkan berupa verbal (teks) dan visual (gambar). Hasil penelitian menunjukan terdapat lima adegan yang menunjukan budaya sasi dalam The Mahuzes (2015). Dalam kelima adegan tersebut terdapat tiga level proses pengkodean John Fiske yaitu level realitas, representasi dan ideologi. Terlihat bahwa aspek yang paling dominan dalam The Mahuzes (2015) adalah aspek ekspresi, lingkungan, gerak tubuh dan cara berbicara.  Kemudian, untuk proses pengambilan gambar ditemukan teknik yang paling banyak digunakan adalah medium shot dan medium close-up. Teknik-teknik yang digunakan dalam The Mahuzes (2015) bertujuan untuk menunjukan ekspresi serta aspek-aspek lain yang tergambar dalam sebuah adegan

The Mahuzes (2015) is a documentary film by Watchdoc in the Blue Indonesia Expedition which emphasizes the struggle of the Malind community in Merauke in defending their customary land or forest against palm oil companies and the MIFEE project. The aim of this research is to find out what the sasi culture is in the documentary film The Mahuzes (2015). This research uses a study of John Fiske's semiotic theory, namely three stages of coding:  reality, representation, and ideology. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method and the data collected is verbal (text) and visual (images). The research results show that there are five scenes that show sasi culture in The Mahuzes (2015). In these five scenes, there are three levels of John Fiske's coding process, namely the levels of reality, representation and ideology. It can be seen that the most dominant aspects in The Mahuzes (2015) are aspects of expression, environment, body movements and way of speaking. Then, for the shooting process, it was found that the most widely used techniques were medium shot and medium close-up. The techniques used in The Mahuzes (2015) aim to show expressions and other aspects depicted in a scene.
