Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia)

Penelitian ini berawal dari penggunaan bahasa pada novel Menyusu Celeng yang cukup sulit dipahami dan pemilihan judul yang unik. Pembaca diajak untuk mengetahui makna tersirat dalam novel tersebut, sehingga isi cerita dapat dipahami dengan baik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan (1) makna trikotomi ikon, indeks, dan simbol dalam novel Menyusu Celeng, dan (2) relevansi kehidupan dalam novel dengan realita kehidupan masyarakat. Penelitian deskriptif kualitatif ini menggunakan pendekatan semiotika C.S. Peirce. Datanya berupa kutipan kata, frasa kalimat, paragraf yang mengandung tanda ikon, indeks, simbol, dan relevansi kehidupan dalam novel dengan realita kehidupan masyarakat. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah teknik baca dan catat. Teknik analisis yang digunakan adalah analisis konten. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat tanda-tanda yang memiliki makna mengenai keserakahan manusia, penderitaan rakyat, dan perjuangan rakyat,  Selain itu, terdapat relevansi kehidupan dalam novel dengan realita kehidupan masyarakat yang terbagi menjadi aspek ekonomi, politik, dan budaya.

This research began with the use of language in the novel Menyusu Celeng which is quite difficult to understand and the choice of a unique title. Readers are invited to find out the implied meaning in the novel so that the content of the story can be understood well. This research aims to describe (1) the meaning of the trichotomy of icons, indexes, and symbols in the novel Menyusu Celeng, and (2) the relevance of life in the novel to the reality of people's lives. This qualitative descriptive research uses the semiotic approach of C.S. Peirce. The data is in the form of word quotes, sentence phrases, paragraphs containing icons, indexes, symbols, and the relevance of life in the novel to the reality of people's lives. The data collection technique used is the reading and note-taking technique. The analysis technique used is content analysis. The results of this research show that there are signs that have meaning regarding human greed, people's suffering, and people's struggle. Apart from that, there is a relevance of life in the novel to the reality of people's lives which is divided into economic, political, and cultural aspects.
