Evaluasi Performa Produksi Ayam Layer: Studi Kasus Strain Isa Brown dan Strain Lohmann Brown

Penelitian bertujuan untuk menilai performa produksi ayam layer jenis strain ayam petelur yang banyak di pelihara pada peternakan rakyat yaitu strain Isa Brown dan strain Lohmann Brown, dimana kedua strain memiliki genetik yang berbeda. Kegiatan penelitian dilaksanakan di peternakan rakyat Dusun Kedungwaru 2, Kecamatan Kalipare, Kabupaten Malang, Jawa Timur. Penelitian menggunakan metode deksriptif dengan teknik studi kasus. Materi penelitian adalah catatan produksi ayam niaga petelur umur 30-34 minggu dengan strain Isa Brown dan strain Lohmann Brown yang masing-masing berjumlah 456 ekor dan 483 ekor yang dipelihara pada kandang baterai dan kondisi lingkungan peternakan yang sama. Variabel yang diamati meliputi Hen Day Production (HDP), Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR), berat telur dan mortalitas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ayam layer strain Isa Brown dan strain Lohmann Brown yang dipelihara pada peternakan rakyat tidak dapat mencapai produksi yang optimal sesuai standar dari pembibit. Hasil penilaian rata-rata performa produksi pada strain Isa Brown adalah Hen Day Production (HDP) 74,86% ± 4,03 %, Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR) 2,41 ± 0,18, berat telur 62,12 ± 0,62 g/butir, mortalitas 0,08%. Sedangkan pada strain Lohmann Brown nilai Hen Day Production (HDP) 78,65 ± 1,21 %, Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR) 2,34 ± 0,07, berat telur 60,14 ± 0,73 g/butir, mortalitas 0,12%. Kesimpulan penelitian adalah penilaian performa produksi dari kedua strain memiliki keunggulan dan kekurangannya masing-masing, sehingga diharapkan peternak mampu mengembangkan strategi dan tindakan yang tepat guna meningkatkan produktivitas peternakan ayam layer.

The research aims to assess the production performance of layer chickens of the Isa Brown and Lohmann Brown strains, which are widely raised in small-scale poultry farms, where both strains have different genetics. The research was conducted at the Kedungwaru 2 hamlet small-scale poultry farm, Kalipare District, Malang Regency, East Java. The research used a descriptive method with a case study technique. The research material consisted of production records of commercial layer chickens aged 30-34 weeks with Isa Brown and Lohmann Brown strains, each numbering 456 and 483 birds respectively, raised in battery cages and under the same farm environmental conditions. The observed variables included Hen Day Production (HDP), Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR), egg weight, and mortality. The results showed that Isa Brown and Lohmann Brown layer chickens raised in small- scale farms could not achieve optimal production according to breeding standards. The average production performance assessment results for Isa Brown strain were Hen Day Production (HDP) 74.86% ± 4.03%, Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR) 2.41 ± 0.18, egg weight 62.12 ± 0.62 g/egg, mortality 0.08%. Meanwhile, for Lohmann Brown strain, the values were Hen Day Production (HDP) 78.65 ± 1.21%, Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR) 2.34 ± 0.07, egg weight 60.14 ± 0.73 g/egg, mortality 0.12%. The conclusion of the research is that the production performance assessment of both strains has its own advantages and disadvantages, thus it is expected that farmers can develop appropriate strategies and actions to improve the productivity of layer chicken farms.
