POTENSI TANAMAN PENEDUH JALAN SEBAGAI PENYERAP TIMBAL DI JALAN JENDERAL SOEDIRMAN PURWOKERTO

Pencemaran udara dapat diketahui dengan menggunakan tumbuhan sebagai bioindikator. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui konsentrasi Pb udara ambien dan konsentrasi Pb pada beberapa daun pohon peneduh jalan serta respon anatomisnya di Jalan Jenderal Soedirman Purwokerto. Metode penelitian menggunakan metode survei. Sampel daun tanaman peneduh jalan diambil secara purposive sampling. Variabel bebas berupa konsentrasi logam berat Pb, sedangkan variabel tergantungnya berupa respon anatomis. Parameter utama yang diamati berupa konsentrasi Pb udara, Pb daun dan karakter anatomis stomata. Parameter pendukung yaitu kepadatan lalu lintas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa konsentrasi Pb di Jalan Jenderal Soedirman Kota Purwokerto sebesar 0,0147 µg/m3 dengan jumlah kendaraan yang melintas antara 3302 – 5055 buah perjam (4340 ± 698,09). Nilai tersebut masih berada di bawah ambang batas baku mutu udara ambien di Propinsi Jawa Tengah, yaitu sebesar 2 µg/m3. Konsentrasi Pb daun tertinggi pada daun Schima wallichii 0,52 ppm dan terendah Hibiscus tiliaceus 0,21 ppm. Pb yang terakumulasi dalam daun mempengaruhi kerapatan, panjang, dan lebar stomata daun tanaman peneduh di Jalan Jenderal Soedirman Purwokerto. Konsentrasi Pb daun tanaman peneduh di Jalan Jenderal Soedirman Purwokerto berhubungan erat dengan menurunnya panjang dan lebar stomata tetapi tidak berhubungan dengan kerapatan stomata.

Air pollution can be detected by using plants as bio-indicator. This study aimed to determine ambient air Pb concentration and Pb concentration in the leaves of several roadside trees at Jenderal Soedirman Street, Purwokerto. Research method which used was survey method. Leaf samples of roadside trees were taken with purposive sampling technique. Variables used including independent variables were concentration of air Pb and leaf Pb, and dependent variable was anatomical response. The main parameters were air Pb concentration, leaf Pb concentration, and anatomical characters of stomata, whereas the supporting parameter was traffic density. The results showed that the Pb concentration at Jenderal Soedirman Street, Purwokerto is 0,0147 µg/m3 with the amount of vehicles which passed through was between 3302–5055 per hour (4340 ± 698,09). This value is still below the threshold of the ambient air standard quality in the province of Central Java, which is 2 µg/m3. The highest concentration of leaf Pb is 0,52 ppm found in Schima wallichii leaves and the lowest one is 0,21 ppm found in Hibiscus tiliaceus leaves. Accumulated Pb in leaf is highly significant to the density, length, and width of roadside trees stomata at Jenderal Soedirman Street, Purwokerto. Meanwhile, the concentration of roadside trees leaf Pb at this location closely associated with decreased length and width of stomata but not related to the density of stomata.
