Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia)
JO1, JO1 House, dan Produce 101 Japan the Girls”. ABSTRACT The study is entitled "The Utilization of 'Boku' and 'Ore' in Reality Shows: A Sociolinguistic Inquiry," endeavors to scrutinize the deployment of 'boku' and 'ore' (specifically classified as ichininshou daimeishi, or 'first-person pronouns') within the contextual framework of sentences observed in reality show programs. The objective of this research is to determine the utilization of 'boku' and 'ore' within the contextual framework of sentence structures, particularly elucidating the social factors influencing their deployment by speakers during conversational exchanges. The data collection process encompassed transcripts of dialogues wherein occurrences of the terms 'boku' and 'ore' were present—as well as the documentation of sentence contexts that support these conversational exchanges. The primary data resource emanates from a reality television program entitled "Hi! JO1, JO1 House, and Produce 101 Japan the Girls." Researcher meticulously listened to and documented the gathered data onto data cards, employing a systematic classification method to discern instances of 'boku' and 'ore' usage relative to the positional dynamics of the speech partner. Subsequent data analysis entailed the application of “Kabaya theory”, specifically focusing on the ningenkankei (interpersonal relationships) and ba (interactional settings) frameworks, to discern underlying social factors influencing the linguistic phenomena. A total of 15 dialogues incorporating the term 'boku' and 5 dialogues featuring the term 'ore' were meticulously examined from the dataset. The findings of the study revealed a distinct gender-based preference, with male speakers predominantly employing 'boku' and 'ore', while female speakers gravitated towards 'watashi' or 'atashi.' Furthermore, the selection of 'boku' among male speakers was observed to be contingent upon various factors, including the speaker's gender, age, thematic content of the discourse, and the informality of the conversation. Furthermore, the examination of the interpersonal dynamics among conversation participants reveals a notable absence of interpersonal distance. It is envisaged that the findings of this study will furnish valuable insights, particularly to learners of the Japanese language, regarding the appropriate utilization of the terms 'boku' and 'ore' in alignment with pertinent social factors, thereby fostering effective communication dynamics.
