Produk agar diperoleh melalui proses ekstraksi rumput laut kelompok agarofit salah satunya Gracilaria gigas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan kualitas produk agar Gracilaria gigas yang diekstraksi melalui sistem pemanasan dan penambahan Eucheuma spinosum yang berbeda. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimental. Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan pola split plot, sebagai main plot adalah sistem pemanasan yang berbeda yaitu : (A1) sistem pemanasan langsung (Hot Water Blancing); (A2) pemanasan uap panas (Steam Blancing). Sedangkan sebagai subplotnya adalah : (B0) tanpa penambahan Eucheuma spinosum (B1) penambahan Eucheuma spinosum sebanyak 4 gram; (B2) 6 gram; (B3) 8 gram pada setiap 100 gram Gracilaria gigas. Perlakuan diulang sebanyak tiga kali. Metode analisis menggunakan uji F dengan taraf  kepercayaan 95% dan 99%. Hasil  penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan sistem pemanasan yang berbeda dalam proses ekstraksi menghasilkan rendemen agar rumput laut G. gigas yang hampir sama tetapi penambahan E. spinosum dalam proses ekstraksi menghasilkan rendemen agar rumput laut G. gigas yang berbeda. Rendemen agar hasil ekstraksi menggunakan pemanasan uap (Steam Blancing) dengan penambahan E. spinosum 8 gram menghasilkan bobot rendemen agar tertinggi yaitu 49,33% tetapi  kualitas agar yang paling baik sesuai standar FAO adalah hasil ekstraksi menggunakan pemanasan uap dengan penambahan E. spinosum 6 gram yang termasuk kedalam mutu III.

Products agar obtained through the process of extracting seaweed group agarofit one of them Gracilaria gigas. Research is aimed to tell the difference the quality of the product agar Gracilaria gigas are extracted through a system of heating and the addition of Eucheuma spinosum different. This research will uses experimental methods. Experimental design to be used was Complete Random Design with a pattern of split plot, as the main plot is a different heating systems, namely: (A1) hot water blancing; (A2) steam blancing. While as subplotnya is: (B0) without additional Eucheuma spinosum (B1) the increase Eucheuma spinosum as 4 grams; (B2) 6 grams; (B3) 8 grams on each 100 grams Gracilaria gigas. Treatment is repeated three times. A method of analysis using standard trust test F with 95 % and 99 %. The result showed that treatment system different warming in the process of extracting produce rendemen to seaweeds G. gigas nearly the same but the addition of E. spinosum in the process of extracting produce rendemen to seaweeds G. gigas different. Rendemen to the extraction using steam blancing by the addition E. spinosum 8 grams produce weights rendemen to highest namely 49,33 % but quality to the good as standard FAO is the result of extracting using hot water blancing  by the addition of E. spinosum 6 grams including into quality of III.
