Cabai hias dapat berfungsi sebagai dekorasi baik di dalam maupun di luar ruangan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh naungan terhadap pertumbuhan tanaman cabai, pertumbuhan 3 varietas cabai hias, dan interaksi antara 3 varietas cabai hias dengan perlakuan naungan. Penelitian dilaksanakan
bulan Oktober sampai Februari 2023 di screen house Fakulas Pertanian Universitas Jenderal Soedirman, Purwokerto. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan petak tersarang dengan 2 faktor, yaitu petak utama yang terdiri atas N0 (tanpa naungan), N1 (naungan 25%), N2 (naungan 50%) dan anak petak yang 
terdiri atas V1 (Ayesha IPB), V2 (Thai Pumpkin), dan V3 (Lembayung IPB) sehingga terdapat 9 kombinasi perlakuan. Perlakuan diulang sebanyak 3 ulangan, 
sehingga diperoleh 27 unit percobaan. Variabel yang diamati yaitu tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, umur berbunga, jumlah cabang, jumlah buah, diameter 
buah, bobot buah, kandungan klorofil daun, kandungan antosianin, warna daun muda dan dewasa, warna buah matang dan fruit set. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan uji F dan uji lanjut menggunakan analisis DMRT pada taraf kesalahan 5%. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa perlakuan naungan memberikan pengaruh sangat nyata pada variabel jumlah cabang, umur berbunga dan pengaruh nyata pada variabel fruit set. Ketiga varietas cabai hias memberikan pengaruh nyata terhadap tinggi tanaman, jumlah cabang, umur berbunga, diameter buah, dan bobot buah. Interaksi perlakuan naungan dan varietas memberikan pengaruh nyata terhadap variabel jumlah daun. Perlakuan naungan maupun varietas tidak memberikan pengaruh nyata terhadap jumlah buah dan kandungan antosianin. Kombinasi perlakuan terbaik pada pertambahan jumlah daun dijumpai pada kombinasi antara varietas Lembayung dengan tanpa naungan.

Ornamental chilies can serve as a decoration both indoors and outdoors. This study aims to determine the effect of shade on the growth of chili plants, the 
growth of 3 ornamental chili varieties, and the interaction between the 3 ornamental chili varieties with shade treatment. The research was carried out at 
the screen house of the Faculty of Agriculture, Jenderal Soedirman University, Purwokerto. This study used a nested plot design with 2 factors, namely the main plot which consisted of N0 (no shade), N1 (25% shade), N2 (50% shade) and subplots consisting of V1 (Ayesha IPB), V2 (Thai Pumpkin), and V3 (Lembayung
IPB) so that there were 9 treatment combinations. The treatment was repeated 3 times to obtain 27 experimental units. The variables observed were plant height, number of leaves, age of flowering, number of branches, number of fruits, fruit diameter, fruit weight, leaf chlorophyll content, anthocyanin content, mature leaf color, ripe fruit color and fruit set. The data obtained were analyzed using the F test and follow-up tests using DMRT analysis at an error level of 5%. The results of this study indicate that the shade treatment has a very significant effect on the number of branches, flowering age and fruit set variables. The three ornamental chili varieties had a significant effect on plant height, number of branches, flowering time, fruit diameter and fruit weight. The interaction of shade treatment and variety has a significant effect on the variable number of leaves. Shade treatment and variety did not significantly affect the number of fruits and anthocyanin content. The best combination of treatments for increasing the number of leaves was found in the combination of Lembayung IPB and no shade.
