PENGEMBANGAN SISTEM PRODUKSI MANDIRI ENERGI MENGGUNAKAN MODEL TERTUTUP PADA INDUSTRI JAGUNG PIPIL

Energi merupakan kebutuhan setiap negara salah satunya negara Indonesia. Meningkatnya permintaan energi disebabkan oleh pertumbuhan penduduk. Permintaan energi didominasi oleh bahan bakar minyak. Salah satu kegiatan yang membutuhkan energi yaitu pascapanen jagung khususnya industri jagung pipil untuk proses pemipilan dan pengeringan. Limbah dari proses tersebut yaitu tongkol jagung, yang mana dapat dimanfaatkan dan dikembangkan kembali untuk dijadikan energi alternatif dikarenakan limbah tersebut belum termanfaatkan dengan maksimal. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui kebutuhan energi yang diperlukan, mengetahui kesetimbangan massa, dan dapat mengembangkan proses produksi energi mandiri pada industri jagung pipil. Perancangan menggunakan model kesetimbangan massa I, model kesetimbangan massa II, dan model kesetimbangan massa III dengan input 5.000 kg jagung utuh bertongkol dan berkulit, menghitung potensi energi untuk mengembangkan proses menjadi mandiri energi dari inputan yaitu limbah tongkol jagung yang memiliki potensi limbah sebesar 35,57 kWh sekali produksi. Potensi energi tersebut belum dapat memenuhi kebutuhan energi proses produksi sebesar 64 kWh.

Energy is a necessity for every country, one of which is Indonesia. The increase in energy demand is due to population growth. Energy demand is dominated by fuel oil (BBM). One of the activities that require energy is post-harvest corn, especially the shelled corn industry, requires energy for the shelling and drying process. The waste from this process is corn cobs, which can be utilized and developed to be used as alternative energy because the waste has not been utilized optimally. The purpose of this study was to determine the required energy requirements, to determine the mass balance, and to be able to develop an independent energy production process in the shelled corn industry. The research was conducted in Sawangan Village, Jeruklegi Kulon District, Cilacap Regency. This research was conducted in May 2023. This researvh uses quantitative methods. This research used several tools and materials as support. The tools used are corn sheller and dryer machines. The material used is corn waste in the form of corn cobs as the object of research. Another supporting requirement is Microsoft Excel which is used in research to process data. The result of this research is that the production process i the shelled corn industry uses energy input in processing whole cologged and corn cob into dry shelled corn kernels. The by-product (waste) obtained from this process is corncob which has the potential to be used as an alternative energy source. This study uses input being whole corn with husks and cobs, with a basis of 5, 000 kg per production and has a waste potential of 35,57 kWh per production. The energy potential has not been able to meet the energy needs of the production process of 64 kWh. This study explains that the corn industry cannot be said to be energy independent by optimally utilizing by-products.
