PENURUNAN NILAI BOD, COD DAN TSS MENGGUNAKAN MEMBRAN SELULOSA ASETAT DARI KULIT JAGUNG DENGAN PENAMBAHAN PS-MSG PADA LIMBAH CAIR BATIK

Kulit jagung merupakan salah satu tanaman yang mengandung selulosa yang cukup tinggi, sehingga kulit jagung dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai bahan baku pembuatan membran selulosa asetat dengan cara mensintesis selulosa dengan proses asetilasi. Membran selulosa asetat dibuat melalui metode inversi fasa dengan penambahan aditif PS-MSG untuk meningkatkan kinerjanya. Membran merupakan lapisan tipis yang dapat digunakan untuk filtrasi sehingga dapat menurunkan nilai BOD, COD, dan TSS limbah cair batik. Membran selulosa asetat dari kulit jagung dibuat variasi penambahan MSG yaitu 0, 6, dan 12%. Berdasarkan penelitian ini, penambahan MSG 6% merupakan hasil terbaik untuk menurunkan nilai BOD, COD, dan TSS limbah cair batik. Limbah cair batik hasil filtrasi dengan membran SA-PS + MSG 6% mengalami penurunan nilai BOD, COD, dan TSS berturut-turut sebesar 52,16, 128, dan 48 mg/L dan dengan persentase penurunan sebesar 57,1, 63,6, dan 55,5%.

Corn husk is one of many various types of plants that has a high cellulose. The corn husk can be used as a raw material for making cellulose acetate membranes by synthesizing cellulose with the acetylation process. Cellulose acetate membranes are made through phase inversion methode by adding PS-MSG additives to improve their performance. Membrane is a thin layer that can be used for filtration so that it can lower the BOD, COD, and TSS values of the batik liquid waste The cellulose acetate membrane of corn husk is made in variations of the addition of MSG i.e 0.6, and 12%. The result of this study, the addition of 6% MSG is the best result for reducing the BOD, COD, and TSS values of batik liquid waste. The result showed that filtration with SA-PS + MSG membranes 6% decreases in BOD, COD, and TSS values by 52.16, 128, and 48 mg/L and the percentation were 57.1, 63.6, and 55.5%.
