Potensi Bacillus spp. Asal Rizosfer dalam Pengendalian Penyakit Bulai pada Jagung Manis

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas aplikasi bakteri Bacillus spp. asal rizosfer dalam menekan perkembangan penyakit bulai P. maydis dan pengaruhnya terhadap pertumbuhan tanaman jagung manis. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Laboratorium Perlindungan Tanaman dan Experimental Farm Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Jenderal Soedirman, Purwokerto. Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) yang terdiri dari 5 perlakuan dan 5 ulangan. Perlakuan pada penelitian ini yaitu kontrol, Bacillus amyloliquefaciens BB.R3, Bacillus subtilis BK.R5, Bacillus sp. BK.R9, dan fungisida berbahan aktif metalaksil. Variabel yang diamati meliputi masa inkubasi, kejadian penyakit, intensitas penyakit, nilai efektivitas pengendalian, AUDPC, kandungan fenol tanaman, tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, bobot segar tanaman, panjang akar, dan bobot segar akar. Data hasil pengamatan dianalisis dengan menggunakan ANOVA (Analisys of Variance). Jika berbeda nyata dilanjutkan dengan BNT pada taraf kesalahan 5%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan Bacillus spp. asal rizosfer mampu menekan perkembangan penyakit bulai dan memacu pertumbuhan tanaman jagung manis. Bacillus sp. BK.R9 mampu menekan perkembangan penyakit bulai pada tanaman jagung manis dengan menunda masa inkubasi 13,60 hari, menekan kejadian penyakit sebesar 55,00%, intensitas penyakit sebesar 60,81%, dan AUDPC sebesar 61,20% dibandingkan dengan kontrol. Aplikasi bakteri B. amyloliquefaciens BB.R3 berpotensi memacu pertumbuhan jagung manis dengan kemampuan meningkatkan bobot segar akar sebesar 122,63%.

This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of applications of Bacillus spp. from the rhizosphere in suppressing downy mildew caused by P. maydis and the effect on the growth of sweet corn plants. The research was carried out at the Laboratory of Plant Protection and Experimental Farm Faculty of Agriculture, Jenderal Soedirman University, Purwokerto. The study was arranged based on a Randomized Block Design (RBD) which consisted of 5 treatments and 5 replications. The treatments consisted of: control, Bacillus amyloliquefaciens BB. R3, Bacillus subtilis BK. R5, Bacillus sp. BK.R9, and fungicide with active ingredients metalaxyl. The variables observed were incubation period, disease incidence, disease intensity, control effectiveness, AUDPC, the content of plant phenolics, crop height, number of leaves, crop fresh weight, root length, and root fresh weight. The data from the observations were analyzed with ANOVA (Analysis of Variance). If they were significantly different, continued with LSD at an error level of 5%. The results showed that Bacillus spp. from the rizhosphere was able to suppressing the growth of downy mildew and stimulating the growth of sweet corn. Bacillus sp. BK.R9 was able to inhibit the growth of downy mildew in sweet corn by delaying the incubation period by 13,60 days, suppressing the disease incidence by 55.00%, the disease intensity by 60.81%, and the AUDPC by 61,20%. B. amyloliquefaciens BB.R3 has the potential to stimulate the growth of sweet corn with the ability to increase fresh root weight by 122,63%.
