Penelitian ini berjudul “Pentingnya Kecerdasan Emosional Dalam Membentuk Motivasi dan Perilaku Pemimpin”. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui hubungan pengaruh yang terjadi oleh kecerdasan emosional terhadap gaya kepemimpinan dan motivasi untuk memimpin; serta mengetahui peran motivasi untuk memimpin sebagai mediator dalam hubungan pengaruh kecerdasan emosional terhadap gaya kepemimpinan pada pimpinan kantor kecamatan dan satuan kerja perangkat daerah (SKPD) di Kabupaten Banyumas. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah pegawai (pimpinan dan staff) pada 27 kantor SKPD dan 27 kantor kecamatan di Kabupaten Banyumas (bidang pelayanan publik). Jumlah responden yang diambil dalam penelitian ini adalah 138 responden dengan teknik pengambilan sampel berupa convenience sampling. 
Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang dianalisis dengan menggunakan SmartPLS menunjukkan bahwa: (1) kecerdasan emosional berpengaruh positif terhadap gaya kepemimpinan transformasional, (2) kecerdasan emosional berpengaruh negatif terhadap gaya kepemimpinan transaksional, (3) kecerdasan emosional berpengaruh positif terhadap motivasi untuk memimpin atau MTL afektif, (4) kecerdasan emosional berpengaruh positif terhadap motivasi untuk memimpin atau MTL sosial normatif, (5) kecerdasan emosional berpengaruh positif terhadap motivasi untuk memimpin atau MTL non kalkulatif, (6) motivasi untuk memimpin atau MTL afektif berpengaruh positif terhadap gaya kepemimpinan transformasional, (7) motivasi untuk memimpin atau MTL sosial normatif berpengaruh negatif terhadap gaya kepemimpinan transaksional, (8) motivasi untuk memimpin atau MTL non kalkulatif berpengaruh negatif terhadap gaya kepemimpinan transaksional, (9) motivasi untuk memimpin atau MTL afektif memediasi secara parsial dalam hubungan kecerdasan emosional terhadap gaya kepemimpinan transformasional, (10) motivasi untuk memimpin atau MTL sosial normatif memediasi secara parsial dalam hubungan kecerdasan emosional terhadap gaya kepemimpinan transaksional, (11) motivasi untuk memimpin atau MTL non kalkulatif memediasi secara parsial dalam hubungan kecerdasan emosional terhadap gaya kepemimpinan transaksional. 
Implikasi pada penelitian ini bagi Pemerintah Daerah Banyumas khususnya pimpinan yaitu disarankan untuk lebih memahami penting nya peran kecerdasan emosional dalam kinerja pemerintahan daerah. Penekanan pada faktor kecerdasan emosional serta motivasi untuk memimpin yang akan menuntun pada gaya kepemimpinan transformasional akan membantu dalam mewujudkan kinerja pemerintahan yang selaras dengan core values “BerAKHLAK” yang merupakan visi utama organisasi yang sedang digiatkan oleh pemerintahan saat ini. Terwujudnya sistem kinerja yang sesuai dengan core values tersebut akan menjadikan pelayanan pada pemerintah daerah Banyumas menjadi lebih baik.

The title of this study is "The Importance of Emotional Intelligence in Shaping Motivation and Behavior of the Leader". The purpose of this study is to determine the influence between emotional intelligence on leadership style and motivation to lead; as well as knowing the role of motivation to lead as a mediator in the relationship of influence of emotional intelligence to leadership style on the heads of sub-district offices and regional work units (SKPD) in Banyumas Regency. This research is a quantitative research. The population in this study were employees (leaders and staff) at 27 SKPD offices and 27 sub-district offices in Banyumas Regency (public service sector). The number of respondents taken in this study were 138 respondents with a sampling technique in the form of convenience sampling.
Based on the results of the research that being analyzed using SmartPLS, it shows that: (1) emotional intelligence has a positive effect on transformational leadership style, (2) emotional intelligence has a negative effect on transactional leadership style, (3) emotional intelligence has a positive effect on motivation to lead or affective MTL, (4) emotional intelligence has a positive effect on social normative motivation to lead, (5) emotional intelligence has a positive effect on non-calculative motivation to lead, (6) affective motivation to lead has a positive effect on transformational leadership style, (7) ) social normative motivation to lead has a negative effect on transactional leadership style, (8) non-calculative motivation to lead has a negative effect on transactional leadership style, (9) affective motivation to lead mediates partially in the relationship of emotional intelligence to transformational leadership style , (10) social normative motivation to lead mediates partially in the relationship of emotional intelligence to transactional leadership style, (11) non-calculative motivation to lead mediates partially in the relationship of emotional intelligence to transactional leadership style.
The implications of this research for the Banyumas Regional Government, especially the leader, are suggested to better understand the important role of emotional intelligence in the performance of local government. Emphasis on emotional intelligence factors and motivation to lead which will lead to a transformational leadership style will help in realizing government performance that is in line with the core values of "BerAKHLAK" which is the main vision of the organization that is currently being promoted by the government. The realization of a performance system that is in accordance with these core values will make the service to the Banyumas local government better.
