Adjacency Pairs in Youn Stay Reality Show

Adjacency pairs (AP) adalah fenomena utama dalam percakapan. Polanya bervariasi dan dapat membawa beberapa fungsi dalam komunikasi. Dengan demikian, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis jenis adjacency pairs dalam reality show Youn Stay dan menyelidiki fungsi komunikatif yang terkandung didalamnya. Untuk melakukan penelitian, metode kualitatif deskriptif digunakan dengan mengamati dan menganalisis percakapan antara satu staf dan dua tamu dalam 3 episode pertama acara tersebut. Dengan menggunakan teori yang membahas tentang klasifikasi adjacency pairs dan fungsi komunikatif, penelitian ini menemukan 9 jenis adjacency pairs yang muncul dalam percakapan dari total 102 pasang yang membawa 4 kategori fungsi yang berbeda dengan total 267 kejadian. Selanjutnya, dalam mengkorelasikan jenis dan fungsi pasangan ketetanggaan, penelitian menemukan bahwa faktor target mempengaruhi kecenderungan fungsi tertentu untuk dilekatkan pada jenis adjacency pairs tertentu.

Adjacency pairs (AP) are major phenomena in conversations. The patterns are varied and may carry several functions in communication. Thus, this research aims to analyze the type of adjacency pairs in Youn Stay reality show and investigate the communicative functions they convey. To conduct the research, the descriptive qualitative method is used by observing and analyzing the conversations between one staff and two guests in the first 3 episodes of the show. Using theories that discuss the classification of adjacency pairs and communicative functions, this research found 9 types of adjacency pairs appear in the conversations from a total of 102 pairs carrying 4 different categories of functions in a total of 267 occurrences. Furthermore, in correlating the types and functions of the adjacency pairs, the research found that target factors influence the tendency of certain functions to be embedded in particular types of adjacency pairs.
