Peternakan ayam broiler memiliki prospek yang potensial karena kebutuhan daging ayam broiler yang terus meningkat. Keberhasilan peternakan ayam broiler dipengaruhi oleh beberapa faktor, perkandangan adalah salah satunya. Jenis perkandangan ayam broiler umumnya berupa kandang terbuka (opened house), semi closed house, dan tertutup (closed house). Penggunaan kandang yang berbeda, memberikan pengaruh yang berbeda juga terhadap penampilan produksi ayam broiler sehingga dilakukan penelitian di PT Berkat Unggas Sehat Sejahtera Sukabumi untuk menganalisis pengaruh sistem kandang yang berbeda terhadap konsumsi pakan dan indeks performa. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan selama satu periode pemeliharaan dengan menggunakan kandang opened house yang berpopulasi 6.500 ekor dan semi closed house 12.000 ekor. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode survei dan data konsumsi pakan dianalisis menggunakan uji T-Test sedangkan indeks performa dengan analisis deskriptif. Hasil analisis signifikansi menggunakan uji T-Test menunjukkan bahwa sistem kandang yang berbeda berpengaruh tidak nyata (t > 0,05) terhadap konsumsi pakan. Nilai indeks performa pada kandang opened house yaitu 317 dan kandang semi closed house 250. Berdasarkan indeks performa tersebut, pemeliharaan di kandang opened house termasuk kategori cukup dan semi closed house kategori buruk. Dalam pemeliharaan ayam broiler selain manajemen kandang, hal lain yang perlu diperhatikan juga yaitu penanganan kesehatan dan sumber daya manusia.

Broiler chicken farming has potential prospects because the need for broiler meat continues to increase. The success of broiler farming is influenced by several factors, the housing is one of them. The types of broiler chicken housing are generally in the form of open houses, semi-closed houses and closed houses. The use of different cages also has a different effect on the performance of broiler production, so a study was conducted at PT Berkat Unggas Sehat Sejahtera Sukabumi to analyze the effect of different cage systems on feed consumption and performance index. This research was conducted during one rearing period using opened house cages with a population of 6,500 and semi-closed houses with 12,000 birds. The method used in this study was a survey method and feed consumption data were analyzed using the T-test while the performance index was using descriptive analysis. The results of the significance analysis using the T-test showed that different types of cages had no significant effect (t > 0.05) on feed consumption. The performance index value for the opened house cage is 317 and the semi closed house cage is 250. Based on this performance index, maintenance in the opened house cage is in the adequate category and the semi closed house is in the bad category. In maintaining broiler chickens apart from cage management, other things that need to be considered are health management and human resources.
