Lada hitam (Piper nigrum L.) memiliki banyak manfaat terhadap kesehatan. Lada hitam secara tradisional biasa digunakan dalam bentuk serbuk sehingga sulit digunakan dengan takaran atau dosis yang sesuai. Penelitian ilmiah tentang kandungan senyawa apa saja yang terkandung dalam biji lada hitam belum ada atau belum dipublikasikan. Berdasarkan hal tersebut tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui telaah fitokimia terhadap biji lada hitam, mengetahui apakah ekstrak etanol lada hitam dapat diformulasikan menjadi tablet effervescent, dan mengetahui pengaruh polivinilpirolidon (PVP) sebagai bahan pengikat terhadap sifat fisik tablet effervescent ekstrak etanol lada hitam. Penelitian ini dilakukan secara eksperimental. Variabel bebas dalam penelitian ini adalah kadar polivinilpirolidon (PVP). Variabel tergantung dalam penelitian ini adalah sifat fisik tablet effervescent. Prosedur penelitian mencakup 1) pembuatan ekstrak etanol lada hitam; 2) uji toksisitas; 3) analisis fitokimia (uji flavonoid, uji alkaloid, uji terpenoid, uji fenolat, dan uji saponin); 4) penentuan formula granul effervescent; 5) pembuatan granul effervescent dengan variasi kadar PVP (1%, 3%, dan 5%); 6) pembuatan tablet effervescent; 7) pemeriksaan sifat fisik tablet effervescent. Hasil penelitian uji toksisitas menunjukkan nilai LC50¬ ekstrak etanol lada hitam sebesar 6,118 ppm. Kandungan senyawa metabolit sekunder pada lada hitam adalah flavonoid, alkaloid, fenolat, dan saponin. Tablet yang dihasilkan merupakan tablet effervescent yang berwarna coklat dengan kekerasan untuk formula 1, 2, dan 3 sebesar 5,6 kg, 5,6 kg, dan 5,8 kg. Tebal tablet rata-rata untuk formula 1, 2, dan 3 sebesar 0,391 cm, 0,393 cm, dan 0,405 cm dengan diameter tablet sebesar 0,8 cm. Bobot tablet rata-rata untuk formula 1, 2, dan 3 sebesar 224,1 mg, 213,25 mg, dan 228,35 mg dengan waktu larut selama 7 menit 28 detik, 5 menit 25 detik, dan 7 menit 31 detik.

Black pepper (Piper nigrum L.) has many benefits to health. Black pepper traditionally used in powder form that is difficult to use with an appropriate doses. Scientific research on what compounds contained in black pepper seeds not exist or have not been published. Therefore, the purpose of this research are to determine the phytochemical study of black pepper, knowing whether the ethanol extract of black pepper can be formulated into effervescent tablets, and determine the effect of polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) as a binder for effervescent tablet to its physical properties. The research was carried out experimentally. The independent variable in this research is the level of polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP). Dependent variable in this research is the physical properties of effervescent tablets. Research procedures include 1) the manufacture of black pepper ethanol extract, 2) toxicity test, 3) analysis of phytochemicals (flavonoids, alkaloids, terpenoids, phenolics and saponins test), 4) the determination of the effervescent granules formula, 5) the manufacture of effervescent granules with variations in levels of PVP (1%, 3%, and 5%), 6) the manufacture of effervescent tablets; 7) the examination of the physical properties of effervescent tablets. The results of toxicity tests showed LC50 values of ethanol extract of black pepper is 6.118 ppm. The content of secondary metabolites in the black pepper are flavonoids, alkaloids, phenolics and saponins. The resulting tablets are brown tablets with violence for formula 1, 2, and 3 are 5.6 kg, 5.6 kg, and 5.8 kg. The average tablet thick for formula 1, 2, and 3 are 0.391 cm, 0.393 cm, and 0.405 cm with diameter by 0.8 cm. The average tablet weight for formula 1, 2, and 3 are 224.1 mg, 213.25 mg and 228.35 mg dissolved with time for 7 minutes 28 seconds, 5 minutes 25 seconds, and 7 minutes 31 seconds.
