Penelitian ini menganalisis metafora yang terdapat dalam lirik lagu Ed Sheeran yang berjudul The A Team, penelitian ini berfokus pada pertanyaan penelitian yaitu jenis metafora apa yang terdapat dalam lirik lagu Ed Sheeran A Team dan jenis metafora apa yang menonjol dalam lagu Ed Sheeran the "A Team". Oleh karena itu tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui metafora yang digunakan dalam lirik The A Team. Peneliti menggunakan Teori Metafora Lakoff dan Jhonson (1980)
Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif, oleh karena itu penelitian ini menggunakan analisis isi sebagai metode penelitian. Dengan kata lain lirik lagu digunakan sebagai sumber data penelitian ini.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat 3 macam metafora dalam lagu “The A Team” karya Ed Sheeran, yaitu metafora konseptual, metafora ontologis dan metafora orientasional. Ketiga metafora ini memiliki interpretasi unik mereka sendiri tentang apa yang sebenarnya ingin dikatakan oleh lirik tersebut. Analisis tersebut membuktikan bahwa konsep abstraksi metafora dapat direduksi dan dideskripsikan secara lebih konkrit

This study analyze metaphors that found in song lyric of Ed Sheeran, the song title is The A Team, this research focuses on research question which is what kinds of  metaphors are found in Ed Sheeran’s  A Team  song  lyrics and what kind of metaphor stands out the  most  in Ed Sheeran's song "A Team". Therefore  the aim of this research is to find out the metaphor that used in the lyric of The A Team. Researcher uses Lakoff and Jhonson Theory of  metaphor ( 1980)
This research is qualitative research,therefore this research uses content analysis as the research method. In other  word  the lyric of the songs are used as the data source of this research.
The result of this research show that there are 3 kinds of metaphors in the song titled “The A Team” by Ed Sheeran, they are conceptual metaphor, ontological metaphor and orientational metaphor. These three metaphors have their own unique interpretation of what the lyric really wants to say. The analysis prove that the abstraction concept of metaphor can be reduced and describe in more concrete way.
