THE LEXICAL ANALYSIS OF MULTI-WORD EXPRESSION USED IN SONG LYRICS FROM UNIVERSAL DEATH SQUAD BY SYMPHONIC METAL GIANT: EPICA

Penelitian ini berjudul “The Lexical Analysis of Multi-Word Expression Used in Song Lyrics from Universal Death Squad By Symphonic Metal Giant: Epica” dan Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisa penggunaan ekspresi oleh band simfonik metal as Belanda yang bernama Epica di lirik lagu mereka dalam lagu Universal Death Squad. Lagu ini merupakan salah satu lagu dari album rilisan ke-7 dari Epica yang dirilis pada 30 September 2016 dengan tiga versi rilisan. Teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teori multi-word expression dan noun and verb super sense oleh Schneider (2014). Data dari penelitian ini adalah 6 ekspresi dalam lirik lagu Universal Death Squad. Peneliti menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dan total sampling sebagai jalan utama menjawab rumusan masalah. Dari Analisa ditemukan 3 ekspresi kata benda dan 3 ekspresi kata kerja dengan detail 25 kategorisasi untuk kata benda dan 15 kategorisasi untuk kata kerja.

This research is entitled “The Lexical Analysis of Multi-Word Expression Used in Song Lyrics from Universal Death Squad By Symphonic Metal Giant: Epica” and this research aims to research the expression used by symphonic metal band from Netherland named Epica for their song lyric inside the song Universal Death Squad. This song is one of the songs from seventh studio album by Epica released on September 30th 2016 with three release timelines. The theories applied in this research are the multi-word expression and noun and verb super sense by Schneider (2014). The data of this research are 6 expressions found in universal Death squad. The researcher used descriptive qualitative method and total sampling as a defining path to answer the research question. From the analysis, 3 noun expressions are found standing next to 3 verb expressions that divided into 25 categorizations for noun and 15 categorizations for verb.
