Keberadaan kecoak di suatu tempat dapat menjadi indikator bahwa tempat tersebut kurang bersih dan terawat. Salah satu tempat yang banyak terdapat bahan organik yang diperlukan kecoak tersebut adalah pasar. Hingga saat ini belum ada informasi tentang jenis-jenis kecoak yang menginfestasi pasar-pasar di kota Purwokerto. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keragaman dan indeks populasi kecoak pada lapak sembako di tiga pasar kota Purwokerto. Ketiga pasar kota Purwokerto yaitu pasar Wage, pasar Cerme dan pasar Manis. Penelitian menggunakan metode survei dengan teknik pengambilan sampel random sampling. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan indeks keragaman Shannon-Wiener, indeks dominansi Simpson, serta indeks populasi. Hasil yang didapatkan dari penelitian adalah pada ketiga pasar tersebut diperoleh sebanyak lima spesies kecoak yang tertangkap antara lain yaitu Blattella germanica, Periplaneta americana, Periplaneta fuliginosa, Nauphoeta cinerea, dan Pycnoscelus surinamensis. Indeks Shannon-Wiener pada masing-masing pasar meliputi pasar Cerme sebesar 0.67488, di pasar Manis sebesar 0.92762, dan di pasar Wage sebesar 0.04350. Jenis kecoak yang paling dominan di pasar Cerme dan pasar Wage adalah B. germanica, sedangkan di pasar Manis adalah P. fuliginosa. Indeks Populasi kecoak yang terdapat di Pasar Cerme dan Pasar Wage masuk ke dalam golongan sangat tinggi sehingga diperlukan upaya pengendalian populasinya, sedangkan Pasar Manis termasuk ke dalam golongan sangat rendah sehingga walaupun tidak diperlukan pengendalian tetapi tetap diperlukan upaya monitoring populasi.

The appearance of cockroaches at the place can be an indicator of unclean and untreated place. One of the places which organic materials needed by them available is the market. Until now there is not any single information about the species of cockroaches infesting markets at Purwokerto city. This research purpose was for discover varieties and population index of cockroaches in the grocery vendors at the three market of Purwokerto city. Said three markets were Wage market, Cerme market, and Manis market. The research was using survey method with random sampling in sample gathering technique. Data analysis was done using variety index, domination index, and population index. Results gained from research at three markets was, there were five cockroaches’ species, such as Blattella germanica, Periplaneta americana, Periplaneta fuliginosa, Nauphoeta cinerea, and    Pycnoscelus surinamensis. Shannon-Wiener index on each of markets were 0.67488 at Cerme market, 0.92762 at Manis market, and 0.04350 at Wage market. The most dominant cockroaches at Cerme and Wage market were B. germanica, at Manis market the most dominant were P. fuliginosa. Cockroaches’ population index shows that Cerme and Wage category were very high so its population control attempt needed, while Manis market were very low category so while population control is not needed, it still needs population monitoring attempt.
