Penelitian ini membahas tentang penetrasi sosial yang terjadi antara mahasiswa magang merdeka pada bagian Content Taxonomy di PT Vidio Dot Com. Hal yang menjadi latar belakang dalam penelitian ini adalah terjadinya pandemi covid-19 yang menyebabkan sistem kerja harus dilaksanakan secara work from home. Sistem kerja yang berlangsung secara work from home ini membuat interaksi antara mahasiswa magang juga harus dilakukan secara online atau termediasi. Para mahasiswa magang merdeka bahkan belum pernah bertemu sampai masa magang selesai. Sehingga tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengetahui bagaimana setiap proses perkembangan hubungan mereka meskipun terjadi secara online. Adapun metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Informan penelitian ini dipilih dengan teknik purposive sampling agar data yang didapatkan bisa lebih sesuai. Penelitian ini kemudian dideskripsikan menggunakan teori penetrasi sosial milik Irwin Altman dan Dalmas Taylor. Berdasarkan data yang didapatkan melalui observasi dan wawancara, hasil yang diperoleh dari penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa magang merdeka telah melalui semua proses penetrasi sosial mulai dari pertukaran informasi yang bersifat umum, pertukaran informasi yang terjadi secara timbal balik, penetrasi yang cepat di awal namun kemudian melambat, hingga mencapai titik depenetrasi. Selama menjalani penetrasi sosial para mahasiswa magang merdeka ternyata belum bisa terbuka untuk bertukar informasi yang sifatnya private. Keterbukaan itu tidak dapat terwujud sampai masa akhir magang karena mereka merasa tidak bisa percaya dengan orang yang belum pernah ditemui sama sekali. Sehingga ketika berinteraksi mereka lebih memilih untuk membahas hal-hal umum saja, seperti pekerjaan, perkuliahan, dan program kampus merdeka itu sendiri.

This study discusses the social penetration that occurs between independent interns in the Content Taxonomy section at PT Vidio Dot Com. The background in this research is the occurrence of the covid-19 pandemic which causes the work system to be carried out by working from home. The work system that takes place in a work from home manner makes interactions between interns also have to be done online or mediated. The independent interns have not even met until the internship period is over. So the purpose of this research is to find out how each process of their relationship development even though it occurs online. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The informants of this study were selected by purposive sampling technique so that the data obtained could be more appropriate. This research is then described using the social penetration theory of Irwin Altman and Dalmas Taylor. Based on the data obtained through observations and interviews, the results obtained from this study are independent interns have gone through all processes of social penetration starting from general information exchange, reciprocal exchange of information, rapid penetration at the beginning but then slowing down, until it reaches the point of penetration. During their social penetration, the independent internship students were not open to exchanging private information. This openness cannot be realized until the end of the internship because they feel they cannot trust people they have never met at all. So that when interacting they prefer to discuss general things, such as work, lectures, and the independent campus program itself.
