Perbedaan Efektivitas High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) dan Continuous Training (CT) Terhadap Lemak Viseral Wanita Obesitas

Latar Belakang: Obesitas dapat menyebabkan terjadinya akumulasi lemak berlebih termasuk lemak di jaringan subkutan dan lemak di organ viseral yang biasa disebut dengan lemak viseral. Berbeda dengan lemak subkutan, lemak viseral berkorelasi kuat dengan komplikasi dari obesitas seperti diabetes tipe 2 dan penyakit kardiovaskular. Pengendalian lemak viseral dapat dilakukan dengan latihan fisik. Latihan fisik yang biasa digunakan untuk mengatasi obesitas adalah Continuous Training (CT), namun CT dianggap kurang efisien. High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) dapat menjadi alternatif bagi CT karena dianggap lebih efisien dari segi waktu dan latihan yang bervariasi menjadikan pasien obesitas tidak merasa bosan dalam latihan fisik. Tujuan: Mengetahui perbedaan efektivitas HIIT dan CT dalam menurunkan lemak viseral wanita dengan obesitas di Purwokerto. Metode: Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif eksperimental dengan pendekatan Randomized Controlled Trials (RCT). Subyek dibagi menjadi 2 kelompok yaitu HIIT 17 subyek dan CT 14 subyek. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan metode purposive sampling. Latihan fisik terdiri 10 minggu intervensi dengan 3 sesi setiap minggu. Lemak viseral diukur sebelum intervensi dan setelah intervensi dengan skor Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA). Analisis data statistik dengan analisis univariat dan bivariat. Analisis bivariat menggunakan Wilcoxon (p<0,05) dan Mann Whitney (p<0,05). Hasil: Ditemukan penurunan lemak viseral pada kedua kelompok. HIIT menurunkan lemak viseral sebesar 0,68 ± 1,12 skor BIA dan hasil uji bivariat menunjukan adanya penurunan yang signifikan (p=0,006). CT menurunkan lemak viseral sebesar 0,46 ± 0,77 skor BIA dan hasil uji bivariat menunjukan adanya penurunan yang signifikan (p=0,031). Uji bivariat terhadap perubahan rerata lemak viseral antar kedua kelompok menunjukan tidak adanya perbedaan yang signifikan (p=0,623). Kesimpulan: HIIT dan CT memiliki efektivitas yang sama dalam menurunkan lemak viseral setelah 10 minggu intervensi. Background: Obesity causes excess fat accumulation including subcutaneous fat and accumulation in the visceral organs, commonly known as visceral fat. In contrast with the accumulation of peripheral subcutaneous fat, excessive fat accumulation in visceral is strongly associated with obesity-related complications, including type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease The existence of visceral fat can be controlled by doing physical exercise. Physical exercise frequently used to treat obesity is Continuous Training (CT), but CT is considered less efficient. High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) can be an alternative to CT because it is considered more efficient in terms of time and varied exercises so that obese patients will not feel bored in doing physical exercise. Objective: To determine the differences in the effectiveness of HIIT and CT in reducing visceral fat in obese women in Purwokerto. Methods: This research is an experimental quantitative study with a Randomized Controlled Trials (RCT) design.. Subjects were divided into 2 groups, namely HIIT (17 subjects) and CT (14 subjects). The subjects were collected using purposive sampling method. The conducted physical exercise consists of 10 weeks of intervention with 3 sessions each week. Visceral fat is measured before adaptation and intervention and after intervention by Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA). Statistical data analysis with univariate and bivariate analysis. Bivariate analysis used Wilcoxon (p<0.05) and Mann Whitney (p<0.05).Results: There was a decrease in visceral fat in both groups. HIIT decreased visceral fat rating by 0,68 ± 1,12 measurements with BIA and bivariate test results showed a significant decrease (p= 0.006). CT decreased viseral fat rating by 0.46 ± 0.77 measurements with BIA and bivariate test results showed a significant decrease (p= 0.031). The Mann-Whitney test on changes in mean visceral fat between the two groups showed no significant difference (p=0.623).
