Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia)

TED Talk adalah presentasi singkat yang fokus di bidang teknologi, hiburan, dan desain. TED memiliki durasi yang pendek yang umumnya sekitar delapan belas hingga dua puluh menit. TEDx sebagai bagian dari TED adalah program acara lokal dan terorganisir yang menyatukan masyarakat lokal untuk berbagi pengalaman seperti TED. Contohnya adalah TED Talk “The Skill of Self-confidence” dari Dr. Ivan Joseph dan TED Talk “How to Become More Confident – Lay down on the Street for 30sec” dari Till H. Gross. TED Talks tersebut merupakan dua presentasi yang memiliki tema self-confidence.
Sembilan teknik penerjemahan digunakan dalam proses penerjemahan TED Talk “The Skill of Self-confidence” dari Dr. Ivan Joseph dan TED Talk “How to Become More Confident – Lay down on the Street for 30sec” dari Till H. Gross. Teknik tersebut yaitu Teknik Kompresi Linguitik, Teknik Amplifikasi, Teknik Adaptasi, Teknik Calque, Teknik Reduksi, Teknik Borrowing, Teknik Terjemahan Harfiah, Teknik Modulasi, Teknik Transposisi. Kendala dalam proses penerjemahan yaitu kurangnya pemahaman konten, minimnya pengalaman penerjemahan, serta kekeliruan dalam menerjemahkan teks yang terasa kaku. Solusi yang dilakukan yaitu berkonsultasi dengan dosen pembimbing dan proofreader, lebih sering latihan menerjemahkan, serta fokus menonton video presentasi.
Teknik penerjemahan yang digunakan membantu dalam menghasilkan terjemahan yang natural. Kendala yang dialami menjadi pembelajaran dalam melakukan proses penerjemahan. Selain itu, solusi yang diterapkan sangat membantu dalam memudahkan proses penerjemahan.

TED Talk is a short presentation that focuses on technology, entertainment, design. TED has a short duration which is generally around eighteen to twenty minutes. TEDx as a part of TED is a program of local and self-organized events that brings local people together to share a TED-like experience. The examples are “The Skill of Self-confident” by Dr. Ivan Joseph and “How to Become More Confident – Lay down on the Street for 30secs” by Till H. Gross. These TED Talks are two presentations with a theme of self-confident.
Nine translation techniques were used in the translating process of “The Skill of Self-confident” by Dr. Ivan Joseph and “How to Become More Confident – Lay down on the Street for 30secs” by Till H. Gross. These techniques were Linguistic Compression Technique, Amplification, Adaptation Technique, Calque Technique, Reduction Technique, Borrowing Technique, Literal Translation Technique, Modulation Technique, Transposition Technique. The obstacles in translating process are lack of content comprehension, lack of translating experience, and errors in translating. The problems were solved by doing consultations with supervisors and proofreader, doing more translation practice, and focusing on watching the presentations.
The translation techniques that were used could obtain the natural translation. The experienced obstacles can be a learning experience in translation process. Besides, the applied solutions were helpful to make translation process easier.
