TRUSS MORPHOMETRIC AND MERISTIC CHARACTERS OF MALE AND FEMALE GULAMA FISH (Pennahia anea) TAKEN FROM TPI ASEMDOYONG PEMALANG

Ikan Gulama (Pennahia anea) termasuk anggota Family Sciaenidae. Ikan tersebut merupakan salah satu ikan demersal yang didaratkan di TPI Asemdoyong, Pemalang. P. anea tidak memiliki dimorfisme seksual, sehingga dibutuhkan karakter lain untuk membedakan individu jantan dan betina, diantaranya karakter truss morfometrik dan meristik. Penelitian sebelumnya menunjukkan bahwa truss morfometrik dan meristik bisa digunakan untuk membedakan individu jantan dan betina. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan karakter truss morfometrik dan meristik individu jantan dan betina ikan Donkey Croaker (Pennahia anea) dan untuk menentukan karakter truss morfometri dan meristik yang dapat membedakan Donkey Croaker jantan dan betina (Pennahia anea). Metode yang digunakan yaitu metode survey dengan teknik purposive random sampling. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian disimpulkan bahwa performa morfologi P. anea yaitu bentuk tubuh fusiform, posisi mulut terminal, memiliki gigi yang kecil pada rahang bawah dan gigi besar tanpa taring besar di rahang atas, sirip caudal truncate, tipe sisik stenoid dan cycloid pada bagian kepala. Ada 7 dari 31 jarak truss yang membedakan P. anea jantan dan betina yaitu jarak antara titik pangkal rahang bawah dan ujung moncong, ujung moncong dan batas kepala dan badan bagian ventral, serta pangkal depan sirip dorsal pertama dan batas kepala dan badan bagian ventral. Pada tiga karakter tersebut jantan memiliki jarak lebih pendek dari betina, dan sebaliknya, jantan memiliki jarak yang lebih panjang pada jarak antara pangkal belakang sirip dorsal kedua dan titik tengah antara sirip ventral dan anal, pangkal belakang sirip dorsal kedua dan pangkal depan sirip anal, lipatan ekor bagian dorsal dan pangkal depan sirip anal, pangkal depan sirip anal dan pangkal belakang sirip anal. Karakter meristic yang membedakan P. anea jantan dan betina yaitu jari-jari sirip lunak pada sirip ventral.

Gulama fish (Pennahia anea) is a member of the Family Sciaenidae. This species is one of the demersal fish landed at Asemdoyongs' fish auction centre, Pemalang. P. anea doesn't have sexual dimorphism. Other characters are needed to differentiate male and female individuals, i.e. truss morphometric and meristic characters. Previous studies have shown that truss morphometric and meristic can differentiate between male and female individuals. This study aims to describe the truss morphometric and meristic characters of male and female Donkey Croaker fish (Pennahia anea) and determine the meristic and truss characters that can differentiate male and female Donkey Croaker (Pennahia anea). The method used was a survey method with a purposive random sampling technique. Based on the study results, the body shape of P. anea was fusiform, terminal mouth position, small teeth on the lower jaw, and large teeth without large fangs in the upper jaw. The caudal fin is truncate and has a ctenoid on the body and cycloid scales on the head. Seven out of the 31 truss distances could distinguish male and female P. anea. Male individuals have shorter in three characters t than the female. The characters were the distance between base points of the lower jaw and the snouts' tip, the distance between the snouts' tip and ventral part of the border between the head and body, and the distance between the front base of the 1st dorsal fin and ventral part of the border between head and body. In contrast, the male has a longer truss distance than the female individuals in the four truss characters. The characters are the distance between the back base of the 2nd dorsal fin and the midway between the ventral and anal fin, the back base of the 2nd dorsal fin and the front base of the anal fin, the dorsal folds of the tail and the front base of the anal fin and the front base of the anal fin and the back base of the anal fin. The meristic character that distinguishes male and female P. anea is the soft fin radius of the ventral fin.
