Penerapan sistem zonasi memiliki implikasi yang berbeda di setiap sekolah, termasuk SMP Negeri 4 Purwokerto. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui ketentuan sistem zonasi pada Permendikbud dan Perbup serta implementasinya dan implikasinya terhadap nilai masuk siswa SMP Negeri 4 Purwokerto, mengetahui strategi pengelolaan di tingkat sekolah dan pembelajaran di kelas, dan strategi Dinas Pendidikan setelah tiga tahun sistem zonasi diterapkan. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif. Pemilihan informan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling dan snowball sampling. Pengumpulan data melalui wawancara, dokumentasi, dan observasi. Metode analisis data yang digunakan adalah interaktif.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan sistem zonasi di SMP Negeri 4 Purwokerto tahun 2019 dengan ketentuan kewilayahan dinilai tidak sesuai dan tidak mengarah pada tujuan. Hal tersebut menyebabkan penerapan sistem zonasi di SMP Negeri 4 Purwokerto menggunakan dua model. Penerapan sistem zonasi juga berimplikasi pada penurunan nilai masuk siswa baru di SMP Negeri 4 Purwokerto. Penurunan kualitas ini tidak berdampak pada strategi pengelolaan sekolah yang tetap dapat membuka kelas unggulan dan kelas olahraga. Namun hal tersebut berdampak pada strategi pembelajaran di kelas yang harus disesuaikan dengan kemampuan akademik siswa. Sistem zonasi juga telah digunakan Dinas Pendidikan Kabupaten Banyumas untuk pemerataan guru melalui redistribusi guru, peningkatan akses melalui perubahan status SMP Satu Atap menjadi SMP Reguler, dan strategi lain untuk percepatan peningkatan mutu pendidikan. di Kabupaten Banyumas.

The implementation of the zoning system has different implications for each school, including SMP Negeri 4 Purwokerto. The purpose of this study is to determine the provisions of the zoning system in Permendikbud and Perbup as well as its implementation and implications for the entry scores of students at SMP Negeri 4 Purwokerto, to know management strategies at the school level and classroom learning, and strategies of the Education Office after three years of the zoning system implemented. The method used in this research is qualitative. Selection of informants using purposive sampling and snowball sampling techniques. Collecting data through interviews, documentation, and observation. The data analysis method used is interactive.
The results showed that the implementation of the zoning system at SMP Negeri 4 Purwokerto in 2019 with territorial provisions was considered inappropriate and did not lead to the goal. This causes the implementation of the zoning system at SMP Negeri 4 Purwokerto using two models. The implementation of the zoning system also has implications for the decline in entry scores for new students at SMP Negeri 4 Purwokerto. This decline in quality has no impact on school management strategies that can still open superior classes and sports classes. However, it has an impact on learning strategies in the classroom, which must adapt to students' academic abilities. The zoning system has also been used by the Banyumas District Education Office for equal distribution of teachers through teacher redistribution, increased access through changing the status of one roof junior high schools to regular junior high schools, and other strategies to accelerate improving the quality of education in Banyumas Regency.
