Konflik sosial memegang peranan penting dalam sebuah novel karena isinya sangat dekat dengan kenyataan dalam masyarakat. Konflik sosial ini bisa terjadi antar individu, individu dengan kelompok, atau kelompok dengan kelompok yang disebabkan adanya kepentingan atau pendapat yang berbeda. Penelitian ini menganalisis bentuk dan faktor penyebab konflik sosial dalam novel agar pembaca bisa mengaitkan dengan kehidupan masyarakat saat ini. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah (1) Untuk mendeskripsikan dan menganalisis bentuk konflik sosial yang ada dalam novel Si Anak Badai  karya Tere Liye. (2) Untuk mendeskripsikan dan menganalisis faktor yang mempengaruhi konflik sosial dalam novel Si Anak Badai karya Tere Liye. (3) Untuk mendeskripsikan relevansi hasil penelitian pada pembelajaran mengulas karya sastra di SMA. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan pendekatan sosiologi sastra. Fokus penelitian ini adalah konflik sosial dalam novel Si Anak Badai karya Tere Liye kajian sosiologi sastra. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penellitian ini menggunakan teknik baca dan teknik catat sebagai lanjutannya. Teknik analisis data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan teknik analisis isi. Teknik penyajian hasil analisis data dilakukan dengan menyajikan hasil analisis data secara informal. Hasil penelitian ini sebagai berikut (1) Analisis konflik sosial dalam novel Si Anak Badai karya Tere Liye, terdapat tiga bentuk konflik sosial yang terdapat dalam penelitian tersebut yaitu konflik atau pertentangan pribadi, konflik atau pertentangan antar kelas-kelas sosial, dan konflik atau pertentangan politik. (2) Analisis faktor penyebab konflik sosial dalam novel Si Anak Badai karya Tere Liye, terdapat empat faktor penyebab konfik sosial yang terdapat dalam penelitian yaitu perbedaan pendirian dan keyakinan individu, perbedaan kebudayaan, perbedaan keyakinan, dan perubahan sosial yang terlalu cepat dalam masyarakat. (3) Relevansi hasil penelitian terhadap pembelajaran menyusun ulasan karya sastra di SMA yaitu pada KD 4.20 menyusun ulasan terhadap pesan dari kumpulan puisi atau novel yang dikaitkan dengan situasi kekinian. Penelitian ini diharapkan mampu dijadikan sebagai sarana pembentuk karakter siswa dengan memahami berbagai permasalahan yang terjadi di lingkungan sekitarnya.

Social conflict holding important role in a novel because the content is very close to reality in society. The social conflict can be happened between individuals, individuals and group, or between two groups due to different interest and opinion. This research analyzed the factor as well as form which causing the social conflict in the novel, so that the readers can relate it with their current society life. The purpose of this research is (1) To describe and analyze the form of social conflict in Tere Liye’s Si Anak Badai novel. (2) To describe and analyze the factor  that influence social conflict in Tere Liye’s Si Anak Badai novel. (3) To describe the relevance of research result to learning to compile literature review in senior high school. The method of this research is descriptive qualitative method with the sociology literature approach. The focus of this research is social conflict in Tere Liye’s Si Anak Badai novel, the study of literature sociology. The data collection technique in this research use reading technique and note taking technique as a continuation. The data analysis technique in research using content analysis technique. The technique of presenting the data result is carried out by presenting the data result analysis informally.
The result of this research as follow (1) Analysis of social conflict in Tere Liye’s Si Anak Badai novel, there are three forms of social conflict contained in the research, namely conflict or personal conflict, conflict or contradiction between social classes, and conflic or political conflict. (2) Analysis of the causes of social conflict in Tere Liye’s Si Anak Badai novel, there are four factor that cause social conflict in the study, namely differences in opinion and personal belief, culture differences, differences in beliefs, and sosial changes that are too rapid in society. (3) The relevance of the research result to learning to compile literature review in senior high school, namely KD 4.20 compiling a review of messages from a collection of poems or novels related to the current situation. This research is expected to able to serve as medium for shaping student character by understanding the various problems that occurin the surrounding encironment.
