THE WATER QUALITY RELATED TO ORGANIC MATTER POLLUTION AT LOGAWA RIVER IN BANYUMAS

DAS Sungai Logawa merupakan salah satu sungai yang ada di Kabupaten Banyumas. Masalah utama yang harus dihadapi dalam air adalah pencemaran air. Tingkat pencemaran air yang tinggi berasal dari daerah pemukiman, percabangan sungai, dan areal persawahan, tingginya kontaminasi mikroorganisme terutama bakteri coliform. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kelimpahan fecal coliform dan total bakteri coliform di Sungai Logawa Banyumas, mendeskripsikan variabel fisika-kimia di Sungai Logawa Banyumas, dan menganalisis hubungan antara kelimpahan fecal coliform, total bakteri coliform dan variabel fisika-kimiawi di Sungai Logawa Banyumas. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode survei pada enam stasiun di Sungai Logawa Banyumas dengan pengambilan sampel secara acak berstrata. Data kelimpahan bakteri fecal coliform, bakteri total coliform dan variabel fisika-kimia dibandingkan dengan menggunakan baku mutu air dari Peraturan Pemerintah Republik Indonesia Nomor 82/2001 untuk kelas III. Hubungan antara kelimpahan bakteri fecal coliform, kelimpahan total bakteri coliform, dan faktor variabel fisika-kimia dilakukan dengan analisis Korelasi Spearman menggunakan Statistical Package for the Social Sciences software ver 25.0. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kelimpahan bakteri fecal coliform dan total coliform di Stasiun VI cukup tinggi dibandingkan dengan stasiun lain. Konsentrasi variabel fisika-kimia tergolong baik tetapi telah tercemar kecuali konsentrasi BOD5 di Stasiun VI dibandingkan stasiun lain. Secara umum peningkatan konsentrasi BOD5 berkaitan dengan peningkatan kelimpahan bakteri fecal coliform di Stasiun VI.

Logawa River watershed is one of the rivers in the Banyumas Regency. The main problem that must be faced in water is water pollution. The higher level of water pollution has come from settlement area, river branching, and rice field area, the high contamination of microorganisms, especially coliform bacteria. The aim of this research was to describing the abundance of fecal coliform and total coliform bacteria at Logawa River in Banyumas, describing the physico-chemical variables of Logawa River in Banyumas, and analyzing the relationship between the abundance of fecal coliform, total coliform bacteria and physico-chemical variables at Logawa River in Banyumas. The research was survey methods at six stations of Logawa River in Banyumas with stratified random sampling. The abundance of fecal coliform bacteria, total coliform bacteria, and physico-chemical variables data were compared using water quality standards from Peraturan Pemerintah Republik Indonesia Number 82/2001 for class III. The relationship between the abundance of fecal coliform bacteria, the abundance of total coliform bacteria, and physico-chemical variables factors were performed by Spearman’s Rank Correlation analyses using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences software ver 25.0. The result showed that the abundance of fecal coliform and total coliform bacteria was high at Station VI comparing to other stations. The physico-chemical variables concentration was classified as good but has been polluted, except concentration of BOD5 at Station VI comparing to other stations. In general, the increasing concentration of BOD5 levels tends to the increasing of the abundance of fecal coliform bacteria at Station VI.
