Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian ekperimen dengan jenis penelitian eksperimen semu (quasi eksperiment). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan hasil belajar antara metode group investigation dan metode konvensional, mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan metode group investigation terhadap hasil belajar, mengetahui pengaruh kemampuan berpikir kritis terhadap hasil belajar, dan mengetahui pengaruh partisipasi siswa terhadap hasil belajar. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas X SMA Ma’arif Kroya sejumlah 60 siswa. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan purposive sampling dimana pengambilan sampel dipilih secara khusus berdasarkan kriteria tertentu. Jumlah sampel yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 2 kelas yaitu kelas X IPS sebagai kelas eksperimen dengan jumlah 23 siswa dan kelas X MIPA 1 sebagai kelas kontrol dengan jumlah 20 siswa, sehingga jumlah sampel dalam penelitian ini 43 siswa.
Berdasarkan penelitian dan analisis data menunjukan bahwa: 1) Terdapat perbedaan hasil belajar siswa yang menggunakan metode group investigation dengan metode konvensional. 2) Terdapat pengaruh positif penggunaan metode group investigation terhadap hasil belajar. 3) Terdapat pengaruh positif kemampuan berpikir kritis terhadap hasil belajar. 4) Terdapat pengaruh positif partisipasi siswa terhadap hasil belajar.

This research is an experimental research using quasi-experimental research (quasi experimental research). This study aims to determine the differences in learning outcomes between group investigation and conventional methods, determine the effect of using group investigation methods on learning outcomes, determine the effect of critical thinking skills on learning outcomes, and determine the effect of student participation on learning outcomes. The population in this study were all students of class X SMA Ma’arif Kroya totaling 60 students. The sampling technique uses purposive sampling where the sampling is specifically chosen based on certain criteria. The number of samples used in this study were 2 classes, namely class X IPS as an experimental class with 23 students and class X MIPA 1 as a control class with a total of 20 students, so the number of samples in this study were 43 students.
Based on research and data analysis shows that: 1) There are differences in student learning outcomes using group investigation methods with conventional methods. 2) There is a positive influence of the use of group investigation methods on learning outcomes. 3) There is a positive influence of the ability to think critically on learning outcomes. 4) There is a positive influence of student participation on learning outcomes.
