UJI HAMBAT EKSTRAK ETANOL RUMPUT MUTIARA (Hyedotis corymbosa) TERHADAP KULTUR SEL KB (KARSINOMA SKUAMOSA MULUT)

Karsinoma skuamosa mulut merupakan salah satu jenis kanker yang paling banyak terjadi di rongga mulut. Pilihan perawatan kanker umumnya operasi dan kemoterapi. Kemoterapi mempunyai beberapa kekurangan salah satunya adalah membunuh sel sehat yang ada di seluruh tubuh. Tanaman yang memiliki potensi sebagai obat kanker adalah Hedyotis corymbosa atau tanaman rumput mutiara. Rumput mutiara mengandung senyawa seperti flavonoid, asam oleanolat, asam ursolat. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui efek penghambatan ekstrak etanol rumput mutiara terhadap kultur sel Kb pada karsinoma skuamosa mulut. Jenis penelitian ini adalah eksperimental laboratoris yang terbagi menjadi tiga kelompok perlakuan yaitu ekstrak etanol rumput mutiara dengan dosis 10mg/ml, 100mg/ml, 1000mg/ml dengan sepuluh kali pengenceran dan satu kelompok kontrol negatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya hambatan pertumbuhan sel sebesar 50%. Simpulan penelitian ini adalah Ekstrak etanol rumput mutiara mampu menghambat pertumbuhan kultur sel Kb sebesar 50% mulai dari dosis 10mg/ml.

Oral squamous carcinoma is one of the most common types of cancer in the oral cavity. Cancer treatment options are generally surgery and chemotherapy. Chemotherapy has several disadvantages, one of which is killing healthy cells throughout the body. Plants that have potential as cancer drugs are Hedyotis corymbosa or pearl grass plants. Pearl grass contains compounds such as flavonoids, oleanolic acid, ursolic acid. This study aims to determine the inhibitory effect of pearl grass ethanol extract on Kb cell culture in oral squamous carcinoma. This type of research is an experimental laboratory which is divided into three treatment groups of Hyedotis corymbosa ethanol extract at a dose of 10mg / ml, 100mg / ml, 1000mg / ml with ten times dilution and one negative control group. The results showed an inhibition of cell growth by 50%. The conclusion of this study is the ethanol extract of pearl grass can inhibit the growth of Kb cell culture by 50% starting at a dose of 10mg / ml.
