Peran World Bank dan UNODC melalui Stolen Asset Recovery (StAR) Initiative Dalam Upaya Pemulihan Aset Hasil Korupsi Kasus 1 Malaysia Development Berhad

Tantangan dalam upaya memerangi korupsi dalam politik global semakin kompleks, tidak hanya upaya pencegahan dan peradilan, tantangan pemerintah kini juga termasuk dengan bagaimana agar dapat mengembalikan aset negara yang dicuri dari hasil tindakan korupsi ke dalam negeri agar dapat dikelola kembali untuk kepentingan publik. Proses pengembalian asset recovery tergolong alot dan rumit bagi negara-negara korban. Untuk merespon hal ini, World Bank dan United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) mengadakan kerja sama internasional untuk meluncurkan program kolaborasi yakni inisiatif pemulihan aset yang disebut sebagai Stolen Asset Recovery (StAR) Initiative. Tulisan ini akan mengelaborasi konsep asset recovery dan kerja sama internasional untuk melihat peran WB dan UNODC dalam upaya pengembalian aset salah satu kasus korupsi yang sedang ongoing yakni 1 Malaysia Development Berhad. Tujuan dari tulisan ini yaitu untuk memberikan gambaran terkait kinerja StAR Initiative dalam upaya pemulihan aset.

Challenges in efforts to fight corruption in global politic are increasingly complicated, not only protection and justice efforts, the challenges of the government now which are also included to increase country’s stolen assets from the results of domestic corruption prevention measures so that they can be returned to the public. The asset recovery process is classified as many and complicated for victims countries. In response to this, the World Bank and the United Nations Office for Drugs and Crime (UNODC) entered into international cooperation to launch a collaborative program called the Stolen Asset Recovery Initiative (StAR). This paper will elaborate the concept of asset recovery and international cooperation to see the role of the WB and UNODC to support assets one of the ongoing corruption problems, namely 1 Malaysia Development Berhad. The purpose of this paper is to provide an overview of the performance of the Initiative in its efforts to improve assets.
