Penelitian tindakan kelas ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan peningkatan keterampilan menulis teks berita setelah mengikuti pembelajaran menggunakan metode mind mapping dengan bantuan media video pada siswa kelas VIII B SMP Negeri 1 Karanglewas dan mendeskripsikan perubahan perilaku belajar siswa kelas VIII B SMP Negeri 1 Karanglewas setelah mengikuti pembelajaran menulis teks berita menggunakan metode mind mapping dengan bantuan media video. Desain penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah desain penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) dengan menerapkan tiga siklus. Setiap siklus terdiri atas empat tahap yaitu, perencanaan, tindakan, pengamatan, dan refleksi. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII B SMP Negeri 1 Karanglewas. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah teknik tes dan nontes. Teknik analisis data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan teknik kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Teknik kuantitatif digunakan untuk mengetahui hasil tes menulis teks berita siswa, sedangkan teknik kualitatif digunakan untuk mengetahui hasil nontes berupa perubahan perilaku belajar siswa. Berdasarkan hasil tes, keterampilan menulis teks berita siswa mengalami peningkatan yang dapat dilihat dari nilai rata-rata yang diperoleh pada setiap siklusnya. Pada prasiklus, nilai rata-rata yang diperoleh sebesar 61, siklus I nilai rata-rata diperoleh sebesar 71,34, dan siklus II nilai rata-rata yang diperoleh mencapai 82,94. Selain itu, berdasarkan hasil nontes yang berupa observasi, angket, wawancara, dan dokumentasi juga menunjukkan adanya perubahan perilaku belajar siswa ke arah yang lebih baik. Siswa menjadi lebih tertarik dan antusias mengikuti pembelajaran, siswa lebih memperhatikan penjelasan dari guru, dan siswa menjadi lebih bersungguh-sungguh dalam menulis teks berita.

This class action research aims to describe the improvement of news text writing skills after participating in learning using the mind mapping method with the help of video media for grade VIII B students at SMP Negeri 1 Karanglewas and describing changes in student learning behavior in class VIII B at SMP Negeri 1 Karanglewas after participating in text writing learning. news using the mind mapping method with the help of video media. The research design used in this study is a classroom action research design (CAR) by applying three cycles. Each cycle consists of four stages, namely, planning, action, observation, and reflection. The subjects of this study were students of class VIII B, SMP Negeri 1 Karanglewas. Data collection techniques used were test and non-test techniques. Data analysis techniques in this study used quantitative and qualitative techniques. Quantitative techniques are used to determine test results for writing student news texts, while qualitative techniques are used to find out the results of non-test in the form of changes in student learning behavior. Based on the results of the test, the students' news text writing skills have increased which can be seen from the average value obtained in each cycle. In pre-cycle, the average value obtained was 61, the first cycle the average value obtained was 71.34, and the second cycle the average value obtained was 82.94. In addition, based on the results of the test in the form of observation, questionnaires, interviews, and documentation also showed a change in student learning behavior towards a better direction. In pre-cycle, students look less enthusiastic in participating in learning, students pay less attention to explanations from the teacher, and students do not really write news texts. Then, in the first cycle and the second cycle experienced changes in behavior for the better, namely students become more interested and enthusiastic about learning, students pay more attention to explanations from the teacher, and students become more serious in writing news texts.
